Job Summary

This position is a team member of the Caterpillar IT Data Integration team and serves as a technical and functional subject matter expert for global standards-based electronic data interchange (EDI) and Business to Business (B2B) integrations across the enterprise. This role enables critical Source-to-Pay, Logistics, Manufacturing, Dealer, and Supplier transaction flows by providing EDI business engagement and design solutions, governing integration standards, delivering technical oversight, and ensuring production stability for externally facing B2B integration platforms.

What You Will Do:

• Provide EDI design solutions to business stakeholders, application teams and suppliers by analyzing business requirements, assessing downstream impacts, recommending standards-based integration approaches, and designing recommended transaction, routing, and implementation options.

• Act as a lead expert for EDI and B2B integrations using X12 and EDIFACT standards, supporting global business partners across multiple Caterpillar business units

• Approve proper configuration, routing, testing, and production readiness for a range of transaction types for supplier, dealer and trading partner onboarding activities

• Provide thought leadership and governance for EDI standards and versioning decisions by evaluating business requirements and determining when adoption of new versions or guidelines is warranted versus maintaining existing standards.

• Provide expert-level escalation guidance to ensure the stability and reliability of EDI services, with a focused role in resolving complex integration failures and cross-system architectural issues.

• Support compliance and risk management activities for externally facing integration platforms by partnering with vendors and internal compliance teams to address export controls, IP restrictions, and audit requests. Make recommendations for IT Controls revisions as necessary.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or related field

• Advanced English-speaking level is a must. This role will have direct contact with English speakers.

• Demonstrated experience in electronic data interchange (EDI) and B2B integrations

• Expert in testing, maintaining, upgrading EDI maps

Problem Solving

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 

• Well-developed collaboration skills communicating across organizations and reaching consensus on specific actions.

Top candidates will have

• Project management skills are a bonus but not required

• Previous experience with the Sterling Integrator platform is a bonus but not required

Additional information

• Located in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León. Will work in Santa Catarina facilities until 2027, office change set to Santa María offices until then. 100% on-site.

• The work schedule is set Monday to Friday (7am-4pm).

• This position will require traveling up to 10% domestic and internationally. 

• Domestic relocation is available.
