Powered by AI, you will spend more time on detailed analysis, professional judgement and the insights that genuinely add value for clients. You’ll be the one in control, reviewing and challenging the quality of AI inputs and outputs to ensure our clients continue to receive an exceptional service.

We're in the business of people, not just numbers. AI helps us work more efficiently, but it's our people who bring judgement, curiosity and care to every client relationship. As a trainee, you'll learn to use these tools while developing the human skills that will set you apart throughout your career.

Real responsibility. Real impact. Right from the start.

Advisory professionals are problem-solvers, strategists, and trusted partners. They help organisations navigate complex challenges, transform operations, and unlock growth. In this role, your insights won’t just support change – they’ll drive it, helping clients make confident decisions in an evolving business landscape.

At Grant Thornton, we’re looking for actively curious, purposefully driven, and candid but kind  individuals who want to shape the future of business – not follow it.

Our three-year advisory graduate programme is your launchpad to a meaningful career, a professional qualification, and a chance to make a real impact on businesses.

The Business Risk Services team helps clients identify, assess, and manage risks that could impact their strategic objectives. Within BRS, our Programme Risk and Assurance team focuses on the challenges that come with change – supporting our clients as they undertake complex transformation programmes which are enabled by digital system implementations to complex infrastructure construction. Our job is to help them successfully deliver their outcomes and manage the myriad risks that come with it.  We work with a wide range of organisations – from the public sector, large and listed corporates to Financial Service firms – giving independent assurance over how projects and programmes are governed, planned and delivered. You’ll gain exposure to diverse industries and develop a deep understanding of how businesses operate, while helping clients build trust and transparency in their operations.

What you’ll do

  • Work with a variety of clients, from FTSE-listed companies to fast-growing start-ups, across sectors like Technology & Media, Consumer Goods, Retail, Publishing, Fashion, Automotive, Energy, Financial Services, and Public Sector. You’ll support them in evaluating how their programmes are governed and controlled, identifying areas of risk, and recommending improvements.
  • Get involved from day one, contributing to real advisory projects – from business transformation and programme health checks to readiness assessments before major systems go live or approvals for critical infrastructure programmes. Your work will cover internal audits, direct support to the senior accountable leaders and integrated assurance, giving you a broad foundation in business risk management.
  • Take on responsibility quickly, owning tasks that challenge your thinking and build your confidence, taking on tasks and engagements from day one.
  • Collaborate with experienced colleagues, turning complex business issues into clear, actionable solutions.
  • Learn every day on the job, with guidance from mentors and a structured training programme to build your technical, digital, and professional skills.
  • Study with support, with dedicated time to revise and a team behind you as you work towards relevant programme related qualifications

Who we’re looking for

We’ve got a flexible approach to academic entry requirements, and we’ll consider these alongside your strengths and motivations. We’re looking for people who want to contribute, spark fresh ideas, and go beyond expectations.

  • Curious minds who explore ideas and ask thoughtful questions.
  • Innovative problem solvers  with a sharp eye for data and detail and be able to cut through the ‘noise’ to see the root cause.
  • Collaborative partners who work respectfully and build trust with others but are not afraid to challenge and offer innovative approaches.
  • Effective communicators who listen, adapt, and express ideas clearly.
  • Self-leaders who manage and flex their time, mindset, and energy effectively, taking responsibility for their own action and approaching everything with a focus on the highest quality.
  • Career-minded contributors  who take initiative and are motivated to grow, seeking new challenges and prepared to operate outside their comfort zone.

What we expect from you

As part of your training with us, you will be provided with study leave to support you with completing your professional qualification. Completing a professional qualification is a substantial commitment and it’s worth taking this into consideration before applying, as you will be required to study in your spare time outside of your working hours. You’ll also be provided with study leave in the run up to your exams. You’ll need to be focused, committed, and organise your time well to balance all the requirements of being a trainee.

We're growing fast, and we want you to grow with us. With digital-first innovation and a firm that's investing in its future leaders, this is your chance to shape what's next.

Follow the purple path.

It’s the start of something bigger.
