The Survey CAD Technician is a position focused on building a strong foundation in land surveying principles and SW+ general standards. This role supports the survey team’s daily operations by assisting with the preparation of tree and topographic surveys, as-built surveys, and conducting deed and plat research, while also participating in field work as needed. As a key contributor within the survey department, the Survey CAD Technician plays an important role in both office and field activities. This position is designed for learning and growth, and candidates are encouraged to ask questions, seek guidance, and actively pursue mentorship opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of the land surveying profession.

Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and maintain a working understanding of project scope, assigned tasks, project organization, and required data deliverables
- Translate field-collected survey data into accurate and complete technical drawings, plats, and surfaces using Civil3D
- Import, process, and manage survey data provided by field crews, ensuring accuracy and completeness of final deliverables
- Interpret and apply field notes, sketches, plats, and deeds to produce accurate CAD and PDF deliverables
- Read and interpret plats, deeds, and property corner data, including knowledge of monumentation (original and reset corners)
- Create, edit, and manage survey drawings, stake point data, and related documentation
- Assist in ensuring all work complies with applicable local codes, regulations, and project specifications
- Utilize GIS resources, including county GIS systems, to support survey research and data verification
- Perform basic grid-to-ground conversions as applicable to survey data processing.
- Maintain organized project files, drawings, and records in accordance with company standards
- Collaborate closely with Survey Crew Chiefs, field teams, Professional Land Surveyors, engineers, and other team members to ensure accurate representation of survey data
- Coordinate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders to support project needs and timelines
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 0-5 years of progressive experience in land survey field operations
Other Skills/Abilities
- Excellent written, verbal, graphic, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with Survey Crew Chiefs, engineers, clients, and team members to clarify requirements and resolve discrepancies
- Strong organizational, project management, and time-management skills
