Description
We are currently seeking a full-time, exempt Survey CAD Technician. The Survey CAD Technician will assist the RPLS in land surveying duties and draft detailed drawings, to include boundary, right-of-way, easements and topographical surveys, profiles, cross sections, subdivision plats, property exhibits, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys and other similar types of drawings and maps to be used for transfer of real property, planning, development, and design of civil engineering projects; also performs field survey work if needed.
Expected Duties
In this role you can expect to perform the following tasks. This is not an exhaustive list:- Prepare boundary, topographic, tree, construction, easement and ALTA/NSPS survey drawings using Civil 3D.
- Draft subdivision plats, easement exhibits, metes-and-bounds descriptions and other survey deliverables under the supervision of an RPLS.
- Process and review field data collected using conventional total stations, robotic instruments, GNSS equipment and digital levels.
- Perform deed, plat, easement, right-of-way and public-record research.
- Assist with boundary analysis by compiling record information, field evidence and survey calculations for review by the project RPLS.
- Calculate survey points, alignments, areas, closures, offsets and construction staking information.
- Prepare field files, point lists, stakeout data, sketches and other information needed by survey crews.
- Review field data for completeness, accuracy and potential discrepancies before drafting.
- Perform routine QA/QC of survey drawings, legal descriptions, exhibits and field data.
- Maintain organized project files, CAD standards, survey databases and electronic records.
- Coordinate with project managers, field crews, engineers and other design disciplines to resolve questions and obtain missing information.
- Track assigned work and communicate project status, scheduling needs and potential issues to the project manager.
- Assist field crews when needed with boundary, topographic, construction staking, as-built and other survey work.
- Operate survey instruments and data collectors under the direction of the party chief or RPLS.
- Set stakes, locate improvements and utilities, collect topographic information and assist with monument searches and recovery.
- Follow company safety procedures and properly maintain survey equipment, vehicles and field supplies.
- Perform other survey-related office and field duties as assigned.
We Require
- At least 2 years of experience as survey technician working with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Must be experienced with Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Trimble Data Collectors, and GPS equipment.
- Ability to drive company vehicle to various locations in the metroplex to complete surveying tasks for projects if needed.
- Ability to work closely with an integrated multi-discipline team under tight deadlines and communicate clearly – both in writing and verbally.
Physical Demands
This position is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting, but occasional walking and lifting up to 25lbs may occur. Occasionally bending, squatting, and reaching overhead may also occur. Additionally, extensive computer usage is required daily.
Position Type and Schedule
This is a full-time position, with the expectation to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Overtime may be requested at times to meet project deadlines. The standard schedule for this position is Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm. Flexible scheduling is offered.
Travel
This position is primarily in-office, but local travel may be required throughout the day to go to project sites and complete survey work or assist other BHB offices. Occasional overnight travel may be required.Benefits
