Inventory & Production Scheduling Coordinator
Location: Mason City, IA — Nutra Blend
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Pay: $23 - $25 per hour. Depending on experience.
Position Summary
The Inventory & Production Scheduling Coordinator supports plant operations by maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating materials, and supporting efficient production scheduling. This role helps ensure materials are available when needed, production schedules align with customer demand, and inventory levels are properly maintained to support plant efficiency and customer service.
Working closely with Production, Warehouse, Planning, Customer Service, Quality, and Manufacturing teams, this position plays an important role in inventory control, work order management, production sequencing, and schedule coordination. The coordinator also serves as a key point of contact for internal and external customers, representing the Mason City facility and supporting the achievement of operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Perform cycle counts and inventory audits, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Ensure inventory receipts, transfers, adjustments, and material consumption transactions are accurately recorded in applicable systems.
- Monitor inventory age and identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess materials.
- Partner with Warehouse and Accounting teams to reconcile inventory and resolve discrepancies.
- Review inventory trends and recommend process improvements to reduce inventory losses and improve accuracy.
- Partner with the Planning team to develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels, production capacity, and material availability.
- Coordinate production sequencing to improve efficiency and minimize changeovers, flushes, downtime, and material waste.
- Communicate production priorities, schedule changes, and material requirements to plant personnel and operations leadership.
- Monitor production schedule attainment and adjust plans as needed to support customer commitments.
- Identify potential material shortages and coordinate with appropriate teams to address supply constraints before they impact production.
- Support work order management and other administrative activities related to inventory control and production planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in plant operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of administrative or inventory control experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across teams.
- Ability to learn and use enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment and obtain a forklift license.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience with inventory management, production scheduling, or work order systems.
- Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Excel for inventory tracking and reporting.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license.
