Description

The Communications Coordinator reports to the Communications Manager and will provide support of Augusta National Golf Club’s communications strategy across a variety of functions. This position requires the highest attention to detail and is expected to play a vital and cross-departmental role in the planning and execution of press activities for the Masters Tournament and Masters Tournament Foundation (“MTF”) events and initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Communications Manager to manage authorized vendors, agencies and support personnel in preparation of Tournament season, including the setup of the Press Building.
  • Support the end-to-end press credentialing process, preparing for the press application’s launch and contributing to the review, issuance and evaluation processes.
  • Lead daily monitoring of digital news publications, social media and printed publications for all reported information relating to Augusta National Golf Club, the Masters Tournament and other relevant topics; flags critical items as necessary.
  • Lead updates and facilitate internal proofing process for print publications and digital platforms; collaborate as necessary with research vendors to support fact-checking process.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of press materials, including releases, news bulletins and alerts.
  • Provide relevant communications support to the Masters Tournament Foundation’s golf development initiatives, including the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Drive, Chip and Putt, Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and Latin America Amateur Championship.
  • Support the Media Committee, including the development of various materials and documentation.
  • Support research and editing efforts for media resources for the Masters Tournament and Masters Tournament Foundation events.
  • Assist in research to answer requests for information from internal and external sources.
  • Support the efforts of the Masters and Masters Tournament Foundation content teams, which produces all content (written word, photography, V.O.D., social media) for the Tournament’s various digital platforms.
  • Responsible for area and department meeting minutes; tracks action items.
  • Provide assistance to the Club Historian on assigned historical projects.
  • Completes projects as assigned by the Communications Manager and Communications Director.
  • Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an important part of the job.

Physical Demands

  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties.
  • Occasionally required to walk and work with hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds and/or drive a golf cart.
  • Constantly required to sit, sometimes for several hours at a time, and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Qualifications:

      Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) experience preferred.
  • A creative thinker, resourceful and diligent.
  • Ability to work productively and collaboratively as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and high workloads with high attention for detail.
  • Efficient organizational skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of golf, Augusta National and the Masters Tournament preferred.

Relative Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or Business/Sports Administration.
  • Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in communications, preferably in sports.

Required License(s):

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully completes the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program.

Projected Work Schedule:

Normal work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
