Senior Substation Engineer - Physical - MD

Job Title: Senior Substation Engineer (Physical)Location: Elkridge, MDPOSITION DESCRIPTIONAlpha 3 is seeking a Senior Physical Substation Engineer. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work schedule. Three days per week (typically Tuesday-Thursday) are expected to be in the office and two days per week from home. Preferred office location Elkridge, MD.  Other locations may be available, depending on the candidate’s qualifications.RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyze, evaluate, and create new designs and drawings; revise existing designs and drawings Work in an integrated project team environment with Designers and Engineers to develop substation single line diagrams, facility studies, general arrangement, equipment plans and sections, foundation plans, grounding and conduit plans, equipment connection details, control building plans and sections. Prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.Provide design review, constructive feedback and mentorshipMeet with clients and conduct walk downs as needed REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSUndergraduate degree in electrical/electronics engineering or a closely related field; Master’s degree in electrical power engineering preferredPE strongly preferred7+ years of relevant experience, inclusive of physical layout and substation designUtility project experience with strong knowledge of electrical codes including NEC and NESC is requiredKnowledge of Microstation and/or AutoCADAbility to work on a team and on multiple projectsAbility to understand and incorporate comments and feedbackAbility to provide design reviewsAbility to adapt to various client standards and proceduresPersonal time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines Attention to detail and pride in work product qualityAbility and willingness to support and mentor more junior team members Salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant. Available benefits include:Health/Dental/Vision (75% of premiums company-paid)401(k) (5% company match) 10 Paid Holidays 20 Paid-time-off daysAlpha 3 is focused on delivering management and technical services to companies that own, operate, or develop infrastructure assets, particularly in the energy industry.
