Location: Richmond, VA
Compensation: $98,512-$115,896*
The Director, Training serves as a strategic partner within Human Resources, leading the design, development, and delivery of organizational learning and development initiatives. This role is responsible for leading the creation of innovative training programs that equip employees with the skills, knowledge, and capabilities needed to support organizational effectiveness, staff engagement, and mission success.
The ideal candidate is a passionate learning professional who combines instructional design expertise, organizational development knowledge, and strong relationship-building skills to create impactful training experiences across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive organization-wide training and development strategy.
- Assess learning needs and create training solutions that align with organizational goals and priorities.
- Design and facilitate instructor-led, virtual, blended, and e-learning programs.
- Research emerging trends and technologies in learning and development and incorporate best practices into training initiatives.
- Create engaging training content for leadership, professional, technical, and administrative staff.
- Establish annual training priorities and learning curricula in partnership with organizational leadership.
- Coordinate internal and external training opportunities while ensuring alignment with organizational standards and processes.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and content providers to deliver best-in-class learning experience.
- Oversee the administration and optimization of learning management systems, including Workday Learning, Pathwright, and other platforms.
- Manage training assignments, completion tracking, reporting, and employee learning records.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to implement, configure, and maintain learning technologies.
- Analyze training outcomes and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Use data-driven insights to continuously enhance learning programs and employee development initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in: Adult Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Psychology, Leadership or a related field
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in training, learning and development, organizational development, or human resources.
- Proven strategic thinking skills with the ability to assess business needs and design impactful learning solutions aligned with organizational goals.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise-wide training programs.
- Experience administering learning management systems and learning technologies.
- Advanced expertise in learning and development principles and adult learning methodologies.
- Outstanding written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Certification in personality or assessment instruments, preferred
- Experience with Workday Learning administration and reporting, preferred.
- Experience developing e-learning and blended learning programs, preferred.
