Manager, Strategic Planning & Executive Decision Support

Job Summary:

Shields Health is seeking a Manager, Strategic Planning & Executive Decision Support to support high-priority strategic initiatives and the development of executive-level presentations and decision materials.

This role will serve as a strategic thought partner to the President, CFO, VP of Strategic Decision Support, and other members of the Executive Team. The Manager will help shape strategic topics, storylines, and messaging for Board, shareholder, leadership, and other key meetings and will own the process of translating those priorities into clear, cohesive, high-quality materials.
The role will also provide strategic support for priority initiatives and ad hoc requests from the President and senior leadership.

The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution. In particular, preparation for the Company’s three annual Board meeting cycles is a significant component of the position, with approximately 30 individual meetings occurring during each cycle. During these periods, the Manager will personally drive the detailed coordination required to deliver the materials—including communicating deadlines and reminders, collecting and organizing content from stakeholders, updating and reformatting slides, tracking approvals and revisions, and ensuring final materials are complete and ready on time.

The position sits within Strategic Decision Support alongside FP&A and Business Planning & Market Analysis. The Manager will work closely with these teams, leveraging their financial, operational, market, and business insights to help connect the work across the organization and translate it into effective executive-level communications and decision support.

Job Description:

Reports to: Vice President, Strategic Decision Support
Location: Quincy, Massachusetts (Hybrid)

Executive Presentations & Strategic Communications

• Partner with the President, CFO, VP of Strategic Decision Support, and Executive Team to help shape key topics, messages, questions, and decisions for major meetings and presentations.
• Develop presentation storylines, outlines, executive-level slides, and supporting materials for Board, shareholder, leadership, and other strategic meetings.
• Synthesize financial, operational, market, and strategic information developed across the organization into concise, decision-oriented executive communications.
• Own the end-to-end content-development process for major presentations, including maintaining detailed timelines, communicating deadlines and reminders, tracking deliverables, following up with contributors, and proactively escalating risks to completion.
• During Board meeting cycles, coordinate materials across approximately 30 individual meetings, including collecting slides and other inputs from stakeholders, consolidating and reformatting materials, managing revisions, tracking senior leadership review and approval, and ensuring final presentations are complete and ready on schedule.
• Coordinate with leaders and functional teams responsible for contributing content, establishing clear expectations and timelines and driving the process through completion.
• Integrate materials from multiple contributors into a cohesive presentation, ensuring consistency of messaging, level of detail, data, and overall narrative.
• Lead editorial and content-quality review and efficiently incorporate feedback from senior leadership.

Strategic Initiatives & Decision Support

• Support the President and senior leadership on selected priority strategic initiatives and ad hoc business questions.
• Help structure complex or ambiguous business questions, identify the information and analysis needed to inform decisions, and synthesize inputs into clear implications and recommendations.
• Partner closely with FP&A, Business Planning & Market Analysis, and other functional teams to leverage existing expertise and analysis in support of strategic priorities and executive decision-making.
• Connect insights across financial performance, business planning, market dynamics, operations, and other areas to help leadership develop a comprehensive view of key issues.
• Help identify emerging issues, opportunities, and questions that warrant additional analysis or leadership attention.
• Where appropriate, provide hands-on analytical support to supplement existing teams, particularly for time-sensitive priorities or when additional capacity is needed.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Build strong working relationships across functions and levels of the organization.
• Drive alignment and execution across stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
• Develop a strong understanding of Shields’ business, partnerships, strategic priorities, and key performance drivers.
• Serve as a connector across teams, helping ensure that relevant expertise, analysis, and perspectives are brought together effectively for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, strategy, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree a plus but not required.
• Typically 3–5+ years of relevant professional experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, FP&A/strategic finance, business planning, corporate development, or another highly analytical business role; candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong business knowledge, analytical capabilities, and readiness to operate at this level will also be considered.
• Demonstrated ability to structure complex or ambiguous business problems and synthesize information from multiple sources into thoughtful, well-supported conclusions.
• Strong PowerPoint and executive communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling storylines and translate complex information into clear executive-level presentations.
• Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to understand, challenge, and effectively leverage financial, operational, and market analysis developed by others; hands-on analytical capability when needed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the judgment and presence to work effectively with senior executives.
• Strong project-management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority deliverables and deadlines simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to influence, coordinate, and drive work across functions without direct authority.
• High level of intellectual curiosity, business judgment, attention to detail, and ownership.
• Comfortable moving between strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
• Willingness to operate at multiple levels—from strategic problem-solving and executive-level content development to the detailed coordination and production work required to deliver high-quality materials under tight deadlines.
• Healthcare experience is helpful but not required.

The successful candidate will become a trusted strategic partner to senior leadership and a central resource for translating complex business issues into clear, decision-ready materials. They will bring structure to important but often ambiguous work, anticipate what is needed rather than simply responding to requests, and raise the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of Shields’ executive-level presentations and strategic decision support.

Equally important, this individual will work effectively across the existing Strategic Decision Support teams—leveraging and elevating the expertise of FP&A and Business Planning & Market Analysis rather than duplicating it—and help ensure that the strongest insights from across the organization are effectively incorporated into leadership discussions and decisions.

The pay range for this position is $125,000–$135,000, plus bonus and benefits. Individual compensation is based on skills, experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
