We have an immediate opening for an Operations Technician at our LaPorte, TX Air Separation Unit (ASU) & Liquid Hydrogen (LHY) facility.

The LaPorte ASU & LHY facility consists of a 2450 TPD ASU and 30 TPD LHY. The ASU facility is an integral part of Air Product’s Gulf Coast O2 and N2 pipeline networks and produces LIN, LOX and LAR which are transported to our merchant customers. The liquid hydrogen unit was commissioned in 2021 to better serve our existing customers and expand our capacity to meet the needs of new customers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Follow site work instruction manual and job safety analysis procedures.
• Maintain an electronic logbook of operation activities.
• Solve plant process upsets using various indicators and DCS trends in conjunction with console operator.
• Calibrate/Operate multiple analyzers.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and troubleshoot equipment.
• Maintain online training program requirements and assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures.
• Issue safety work permits and performs lock out / tag out of various process equipment.
• Inspect all work areas for any mechanical problems, safety hazards and unusual operation conditions. Keep work and supply areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
• Participate in safety meetings and ensure that all plant safety, environmental, and quality procedures are followed.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Process Technology certificate or degree a plus.
• Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience a plus.
• Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings a plus.
• Experience with personal computers and/or DCS systems.
• Willingness to work shifts rotating from days to nights and available to work holidays and weekends.
• Desire and ability to work in a team environment.
• Valid and clean driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

• Climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Meet call-in requirements as needed.
• Work in all weather conditions and elevated work required.
