Job Summary

Summary
An opening is available for a Research Assistant position at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center in the Department of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital to work on development of enhanced MRI acquisition, reconstruction, and analysis software for brain imaging – specifically on correction of artifacts caused by head motion during MRI and functional MRI (fMRI). This technology can be applied to a variety of widely-used, motion-sensitive MRI scans to reduce image artifacts that impair clinical diagnosis and confound conclusions in MR neuroimaging research. The position requires specialized knowledge of MR physics and strong programming skills, strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, strong writing and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

The Martinos Center offers an excellent training environment and resources for career advancement, as well as a wealth of institutional expertise in all areas of medical imaging. The successful candidate will work within the Laboratories for Computational Neuroimaging (LCN) and will have access to state-of-the-art MR hardware and computational resources at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center, including several 3 T and two 7 T Siemens MRI scanners, a “Tracoline” motion tracking system (TracInnovations), an “AC/DC” B0 shim and RF receive array coil, and high performance computing. This project will bring together experts at the Martinos Center in head motion measurement and correction, fMRI data analysis, image reconstruction, and multi-coil B0 shimming hardware. There will be opportunity for interaction with experts in biomedical imaging within LCN, the Martinos Center, and the wider Boston community.

Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data.
