Maintenance Technician

Location: Alexandria, VA
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: First Shift (5:30 AM – 2:00 PM)
Schedule: Monday – Saturday (Approximately 50 hours per week)

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of high-speed food processing and packaging equipment. This role involves troubleshooting, installation, repair, preventative maintenance, and optimization of production machinery to minimize downtime and maximize operational performance.

The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and have experience working with industrial manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

• Troubleshoot, install, repair, and maintain production and processing equipment.

• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.

• Perform maintenance on motors, pumps, conveyors, robotics, packaging equipment, and cooking systems.

• Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and identify root causes of failures.

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.

Preventive Maintenance

• Execute and maintain preventative maintenance programs for facility equipment.

• Perform scheduled inspections and equipment servicing.

• Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.

Equipment Setup & Operations Support

• Assist with equipment setup, start-up, adjustments, changeovers, and shutdown procedures.

• Support production teams to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

• Ensure machinery operates according to company standards and safety requirements.

Safety & Compliance

• Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures safely and effectively.

• Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and food manufacturing standards.

Required Qualifications

• Experience as a Maintenance Technician, Industrial Maintenance Technician, or similar role in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

• Experience working with:

  • Hydraulic systems

  • Pneumatic systems

  • Motors and pumps

  • Conveyor systems

  • Industrial automation and control systems

  • Packaging and processing equipment

• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals.

• Experience performing preventive maintenance programs.

• Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

• Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues systematically.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in food manufacturing, beverage manufacturing, or other regulated production environments.

• Familiarity with robotics and automated production equipment.

• Electrical troubleshooting experience.

• Experience supporting high-speed manufacturing operations.
