About Team

 This is the team which builds reusable technologies that aid in acquiring customers, onboarding and empowering merchants besides ensuring a seamless experience for both these stakeholders. They also optimize tariffs and assortment, adhering to the Walmart philosophy - Everyday Low Cost. In addition to ushering in affordability, they also create personalized experiences for customers the omnichannel way, across all channels - in-store, on the mobile app and websites. Our team is responsible for design, development, and operations of large-scale consumer facing applications. We focus on real-time transactions, user experience flows, streaming analytics across web and native apps. We interact with multiple teams across the company to provide scalable robust technical solutions. 

What you'll do

As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering (R-2590368), you'll have the opportunity to:

Platform Engineering Leadership

• Lead platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with domain priorities and roadmap milestones
• Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks (e.g., CI/CD, SDKs, model runtimes, feature stores) that support scalable, reusable, and secure development
• Guide architectural reviews and system design decisions to ensure maintainability, extensibility, and performance across services
• Champion system integration leadership to ensure seamless interoperability and consistency across platforms

Technical Execution & Lifecycle Management

• Drive the full software development lifecycle — including coding, testing, deployment, observability, and ongoing maintenance — across multiple teams
• Champion DevOps architecture and CI/CD practices to streamline delivery, improve reliability, and promote continuous improvement
• Implement cloud cost optimization strategies and reduce friction/toil through automation, telemetry, and tooling enhancements
• Own operational delivery and technical excellence, ensuring high system availability, scalability, and incident response preparedness

AI/ML Integration & Product Development

• Oversee the design and delivery of robust, AI-integrated software systems that serve millions of customers and associates, ensuring adherence to coding standards, architectural alignment, and cross-platform reliability
• Collaborate with product, data science, and engineering teams to build AI/ML-enabled features, intelligent automation, and agentic AI systems
• Integrate ML components and AI agents using languages such as Python, Java, Rust, Dart, and TypeScript
• Leverage developer tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate innovation and enhance engineering velocity

Engineering Leadership

• Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation
• Guide engineers and managers through architectural trade-offs, best practices, and career growth opportunities
• Ensure technical quality by promoting rigorous testing, code reviews, defect prevention, and adherence to security and compliance standards

Strategic Execution & Stakeholder Management

• Own the execution of complex technical initiatives, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and aligned with business goals
• Align platform engineering work with broader domain strategies via effective backlog management, milestone tracking, and dependency coordination
• Manage stakeholder relationships across engineering, product, and data teams to define priorities and unblock progress
• Establish and track operational, functional, and engineering metrics to assess platform success and guide continuous improvement

• Drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning
