Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) invites applications for the position of Acquisitions Librarian to join the Hunt Library. This position is responsible for the acquisition and delivery of print books, single-title ebooks, print and electronic journals, media, and other library materials while supporting the library's collection management program. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director for Collection Strategy & Technical Services, the Acquisitions Librarian supervises one staff member and collaborates with colleagues across departments and campuses to support the timely and effective acquisition of library resources.

The successful candidate will join the Hunt Library (https://huntlibrary.erau.edu), serving the Daytona Beach, Prescott, and Worldwide campuses. This position is based on the Daytona Beach campus and works regular business hours. Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and manage the acquisition of print books, single-title ebooks, print and electronic journals, media, and other library materials.

  • Manage firm orders, approval plans, standing orders, and associated acquisitions workflows.

  • Plan, coordinate, and continuously improve acquisitions workflows for ordering, receiving, invoicing, and vendor management.

  • Monitor acquisitions expenditures, reconcile financial activity across Alma, vendor ordering platforms, and Workday, and support budget planning and collection development.

  • Supervise the Acquisitions Technician, including assigning work, training, workflow development, and performance management.

  • Collaborate with the Electronic Resources Unit, Cataloging and Metadata Unit, Access Services, Research and Instruction, and Hazy Library colleagues to support coordinated collection strategies and seamless acquisitions workflows.

  • Develop reports and data analyses to support collection assessment, budget management, and annual library statistical reporting.

  • Participate in library committees, professional development, and other initiatives that support the library and university mission.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree required.

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Studies from an ALA-accredited program.

Required Experience

  • Academic library experience.

  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in one or more of the following:

    • Library acquisitions

    • Collection development

    • Ordering and invoicing

    • Vendor relations

    • Related technical services functions

  • 1–3 years of work-related experience in Library Collection Management.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience with, or demonstrated ability to learn, library management systems and automated acquisitions workflows.

  • Knowledge of current and emerging issues, trends, workflows, business models, and best practices in library acquisitions.

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and interact with individuals from different backgrounds.

  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365, particularly Excel.

Additional/Preferred Experience

  • Experience with library management systems such as Ex Libris Alma.

  • Experience with vendor ordering platforms such as EBSCONET, Rialto, or GOBI.

  • Experience coordinating projects, workflows, or staff.

  • Experience with collection development or acquisitions budgeting.
