Description
The position provides advanced technical support for network, server, virtualization, storage, identity, backup, wireless, firewall, VPN, and related infrastructure services. The Network Administrator participates in cybersecurity activities, incident response, disaster recovery, technology projects, documentation, change management, and infrastructure modernization.
- Administer, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, and related network infrastructure.
- Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls, VPN technologies, wireless infrastructure, network services, and associated security controls.
- Support network segmentation, VLANs, routing, access control, secure remote access, and other controls designed to protect organizational systems and data.
- Administer core network services including DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, time synchronization, network authentication, certificates, and related services.
- Administer and support Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, including identity, authentication, Group Policy, organizational units, permissions, synchronization, and hybrid identity environments.
- Install, configure, maintain, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot supported Windows Server and Linux systems and associated services.
- Administer and support virtualization infrastructure, including VMware vSphere/ESXi and related management, clustering, resource allocation, networking, and lifecycle activities.
- Administer and support enterprise storage technologies, including NAS/SAN environments, capacity management, performance monitoring, and storage allocation.
- Administer and monitor backup, recovery, and disaster recovery technologies, including Veeam Backup & Replication or equivalent platforms.
- Perform proactive monitoring of infrastructure availability, capacity, performance, security events, and system health; investigate and resolve alerts and failures.
- Apply operating system, firmware, application, network, and security updates in accordance with established change-management and cybersecurity practices.
- Participate in cybersecurity operations, including vulnerability remediation, endpoint/network security coordination, incident investigation, containment, recovery, and lessons learned.
- Support Microsoft 365 and cloud-connected infrastructure as assigned, including services integrated with Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid environments.
- Use PowerShell and other appropriate scripting or automation tools to improve administration, monitoring, reporting, and repetitive operational tasks.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, IP addressing information, configurations, inventories, procedures, recovery documentation, and other technical records.
- Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity procedures for network and infrastructure services.
- Participate in infrastructure planning, technology evaluations, upgrades, migrations, implementations, and other small to medium IT projects.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for assigned systems and infrastructure and coordinate with vendors and service providers when escalation or specialized support is required.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for network, server, infrastructure, and connectivity issues.
- Follow established IT policies, security standards, change-management procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Network Administration, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and progressively responsible experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience administering, supporting, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise network and infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting multi-location network environments and technologies including routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
- Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID or comparable enterprise identity platforms.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Experience with enterprise backup, recovery, storage, and disaster recovery technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network, server, connectivity, and infrastructure problems.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, network diagrams, configurations, procedures, and operational records.
- Experience participating in infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, or technology implementations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a government, court, legal, public safety, or other regulated environment.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and hybrid Microsoft environments.
- Experience with enterprise network security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, network segmentation, secure wireless, and access-control technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring, logging, alerting, vulnerability management, and security information/event monitoring technologies.
- Experience with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting/automation technologies.
- Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication or comparable enterprise backup platforms.
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies and/or other enterprise network platforms.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and hybrid networking, particularly Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, or other automation practices.
- Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft/Azure certifications, VMware certifications, or comparable vendor certifications.
- Experience with formal change management, incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery practices.
Required:
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPN, wireless networking, and network troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of enterprise firewall, network security, access-control, and remote-access technologies.
- Knowledge of Windows Server administration and Microsoft Active Directory.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity concepts.
- Knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Hyper-V virtualization environments.
- Knowledge of enterprise storage, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery technologies.
- Ability to analyze network and system performance using monitoring, logging, diagnostic, and troubleshooting tools.
- Ability to safely implement infrastructure changes while minimizing service disruption.

- Ability to document technical environments accurately and maintain current configuration records.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. The employee may be required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and work in equipment rooms or other areas where network and infrastructure equipment is installed. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
