Wong Group on X-ray & Free Electron Quantum Nanophotonics is one of the leading research groups in the world on X-ray photonics, having been recognized as a 2024 Falling Walls Winner in Physical Sciences for “Breaking the Wall of Quantum X-ray Tech” by the Falling Walls Foundation. We are seeking a Research Fellow to spearhead cutting-edge research in the computational and theoretical modeling of free-electron-driven X-ray photonics. Working closely with experimentalists, the research fellow will lead the study of coherent X-ray emission from free-electron-driven van der Waals materials, and the use of this platform for realizing X-ray phase-contrast imaging on a table-top scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop theoretical and numerical frameworks for free-electron-driven X-ray nanophotonics – i.e., model the physics of free electrons impinging on nanomaterials like van der Waals crystals, and subsequent coherent X-ray emission processes.
Lead papers and publish in high-impact journals
Present at top-tier international conferences
Job Requirements:
PhD degree in physics, engineering or related field
Familiarity with electrodynamics and electromagnetism; quantum physics/quantum electrodynamics is a plus
