Description
Define and lead the global trade compliance strategy aligned with the Company's growth, risk tolerance, and global expansion priorities Establish governance frameworks, policies, and standards for import/export compliance across all regions Monitor global trade regulatory developments and emerging customs policies, communicating business impacts and strategic recommendations to executive leadership. Serve as the senior subject matter expert and advisor to executive leadership on trade compliance risks, opportunities, and regulatory developments Build and develop a high-performing global trade compliance organization, including internal teams and external partners Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, or related field; Master's degree preferred. 15+ years of progressive experience in global trade compliance, with 7+ years in leadership roles U.S. Customs Broker License required; additional certifications (e.g., CCS, CES) preferred Deep expertise in global customs regulations, trade programs, and duty optimization strategies Proven ability to lead cross-functional, and geographically dispersed teams Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide change Demonstrated success in building and scaling trade compliance programs within complex, global organizations Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and trade automation tools Strategic thinking and enterprise mindset Strong risk management and decision-making capability Ability to balance compliance rigor with business agility Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills Results-driven with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, transforming organization Oversee global import and export compliance activities, including classification, valuation, country of origin, free trade agreements, and labeling requirements Interpret and apply global customs laws, regulations, and governmental guidance to ensure consistent compliance across all regions. Ensure compliant participation and optimization of key customs programs (e.g., C-TPAT, ISA, AEO, reconciliation programs) Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of internal controls, audit processes, and monitoring systems Maintain accountability for compliance with duty optimization programs Develop and implement import/export procedures to support new products, markets, business models and strategic initiatives. Provide executive oversight of the global network of customs brokers Establish and monitor KPIs to ensure service excellence, compliance, and cost efficiency across all trade operations Support global expansion efforts, including new market entry, product launches, and supply chain redesign Advise on trade implications of sourcing strategies, manufacturing footprint decisions, and distribution network changes Provide executive-level reporting on trade compliance performance, risks, and financial impact (e.g., duties, savings, penalties avoided) Deliver insights and recommendations based on import/export data analysis to support strategic decision-making Ensure readiness for regulatory audits and government inquiries globally
