What does the LOB do?: Risk Management is led by the SEVP and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and is accountable on matters relating to the independent oversight of the management of risks inherent to the activities of CIBC, its subsidiaries and affiliates. These risks include but are not limited to ensuring that effective processes are in place for the identification, management, measurement, monitoring and control of operational, reputation and legal, market, credit, strategic, investment and liquidity risk, collectively “CIBC Risk”, incurred by CIBC’s retail and wholesale businesses, infrastructure and corporate governance groups.

Background: CIBC established Program Tempo in FY25 to enhance the regulatory governance environment by assessing all regulatory requirements and ensuring they are linked with controls. Where gaps were identified, new controls were created for complying with the requirements. Beginning in FY26, CIBC is now focused on evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of these newly created or identified regulatory controls. CIBC hired an external audit firm (PwC) to perform control testing, while CIBC is responsible for quality assurance (QA) and coordination between business partners and PwC.

Who Will the Candidate Be Working with on a Daily Basis? The candidate will work closely with the Director overseeing the project—who will be the hiring manager. This leader plays a key role in driving the bank’s control enhancement initiatives and will provide direct guidance and support throughout the assignment.

Team Structure/Size of Internal Team: Team of ~15 others with varied responsibilities.
Successful CW will be responsible for QA work of external partner.
CW will be collaborating closely with internal business partners.

Job Description:
Summary:
The main function of a Risk Analyst is to analyze and manage risk management issues by identifying, measuring, and making decisions on operational or enterprise risks for an organization. A typical Risk Analyst utilizes knowledge of tax and insurance strategies, securities, insurance, pension plans, and real estate.

Job Responsibilities:
• Act as a Control Advisor supporting various Risk Lines of Business (LOBs) in identifying, documenting, and enhancing controls related to regulatory compliance risks. Conduct control testing and internal audits to assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Risk Management, Audit, and Compliance to ensure alignment of control activities with enterprise risk objectives.
• Analyze operational, legal, market, credit, strategic, and liquidity risks to support informed decision-making.
• Develop and maintain documentation of control processes, risk assessments, and audit findings.
• Provide recommendations for control enhancements and process improvements based on audit results and risk analysis.
• Support the implementation of control frameworks and contribute to the development of risk policies and procedures.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on existing controls and risk management practices.

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related field required

• Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, CFA, or equivalent are preferred and considered a strong asset

Key Responsibilities (50% Project Tempo Support & QA / 50% BAU Control Testing)

Project Tempo Support & QA (50%)

CIBC hired an external audit firm (PwC) to perform control testing, while CIBC is responsible for quality assurance (QA) and coordination between business partners and PwC.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with PwC and Risk Management business partners throughout the control testing process.
• Collect and organize control documentation and respond to requests for information (RFIs).
• Attend walkthrough meetings and facilitate timely responses to RFIs or follow-up requests from PwC.
• Perform QA reviews of PwC’s testing results and provide sign-off on testing documentation and support the resolution of any identified issues.
• Track timelines, manage deliverables, and ensure all deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.

Business-as-Usual (BAU) Control Testing (50%)
Conduct control testing for business-as-usual controls, unrelated to Program Tempo.

Responsibilities:
• Conducted Walkthrough, require and assessing the RFIs and complete the testing template to assessing the control design and operation.
• Collaborate with business partners to address issues and implement improvements as required.

Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional with a background in regulatory compliance, internal controls, or audit—ideally within the financial services industry. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are essential, as this role requires frequent coordination with both external auditors and internal business partners. An analytical mindset and keen attention to detail are critical for reviewing documentation and testing results. Familiarity with control testing methodologies and regulatory requirements is highly valued.

Must Have Requirement:
1. Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in risk management, internal audit, or regulatory compliance
2. Experience in control advisory or testing in Risk Management and Audit- 3 years
3. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in internal audit and control testing
4. Strong background in risk management, including identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies
5. Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks and requirements

Nice to Have:
