About the role

As our Billund-based Head of LEL Design, you'll lead the design direction for LEGO® branded licensed products and Extended Line products, ensuring quality across everything produced internally and through external partners. You'll translate consumer, franchise, retail, partner, and business needs into compelling creative direction while managing the end-to-end design portfolio in alignment with the LEGO development process. You'll also lead the LEL Design Team and contribute to the Licensing & Extended Line Leadership Team.


Required Qualifications

  • Delivered design leadership within consumer products, translating brand and audience needs into creative direction.

  • Built product or portfolio design strategies that support franchise, intellectual property, and audience growth.

  • Led design initiatives across multiple product categories with a clear view of category positioning and value.

  • Managed product design decisions aligned with established brand guidelines and governance frameworks.

  • Developed retail-focused product strategies across channels and markets.

  • Demonstrated advanced written and spoken English communication skills together with executive-level presentation capability.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Applied sustainability principles within product design or development environments.

  • Guided organisational, team, or process development initiatives that improved product quality outcomes.

The team works across the LEGO ecosystem to amplify reach and engagement through high-quality branded products and experiences. You'll collaborate with internal teams and external partners while helping to build a culture of curiosity, focus, mentorship, and continuous development. It's a team that values thoughtful leadership, strong communication, and a genuine interest in creating products that resonate with audiences around the world.


What success looks like

Success means creating clear design direction that strengthens the LEGO ecosystem, raises product quality, and expands the relevance of licensed products and Extended Lines. You'll contribute as a member of the Licensing and Extended Line leadership team while helping shape future design excellence across the portfolio. Working closely with business leaders, designers, and external partners, you'll help deliver products and experiences that build lasting LEGO brand love.
