Role description:

With a growing pipeline of diverse project work we have a new opportunity for a Principal Engineer/Geologist/Hydrogeologist/Environmental Consultant to join our Investigation & Restoration (Contaminated Land) team in NSW. Joining a growing team, you will have the opportunity to take on projects independently while collaborating with our technical directors to deliver a range of medium to large scale projects both locally and nationally in addition to mentoring junior Environmental staff.

Role accountabilities:

• Work across a broad range of contaminated land project types including public infrastructure and commercial/industrial
• Work independently with guidance from technical directors as required
• Undertake contaminated site assessment, management and remediation projects including field investigations
• Have a strong understanding of NSW and national guidance pertaining to contaminated land management including contaminated land auditor scheme and risk assessment principles
• Take project management responsibility for current small to medium projects, with larger projects on the horizon including coordination of field investigations, subcontractors and reporting
• Possess strong data management skills, with ESdat and ArcGIS experience preferable
• Undertake preparation of sampling plans, site investigation/validation reports and management plans to a standard suitable for submission to regulatory authorities and site auditors
• Work with local, national and multi-national clients
• Lead winning bid and proposal efforts which contribute successfully to profit and engagement of junior staff
• Take an active role in managing client relationships, both within our business units and with key external clients
• Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams and clients to ensure project integrity and success
• Mentor and develop junior consultants within the team
• Active participation in industry bodies (i.e. ALGA, ALCA).

Qualifications & Experience:

First and foremost, you share our passion for improving quality of life. You have a highly regarded base of contaminated land and remediation experience in government and private sectors and come to us with:

• Tertiary qualifications in environmental (or other relevant) engineering, geology/hydrogeology or environmental science
• 10-15 years experience in contaminated land investigation, management and remediation, and/or risk assessment, including PFAS
• Demonstrated experience in field investigation methodologies – various techniques for soil and groundwater sampling, soil logging, well installations, with ability to mentor and direct junior staff
• Ability to develop and communicate conceptual site models relating to contaminant sources, pathways, and fate and transport properties
• Fundamental understanding of state and national regulatory guidance
• Demonstrated success in project management delivering to budget and program
• Proven ability with technical aspects of proposal and report writing
• Experience in a consultancy environment and managing key client relationships
• Demonstrated thought leadership, through published writing and/or presentations at industry events.
