Senior Service Manager
We are looking for a Senior Service Manager to join our Enterprise Application Services organization.
In this role you will take end-to-end responsibility for selected business-critical applications and services, ensuring stable operations, effective supplier management, financial transparency, and continuous development in close cooperation with business stakeholders.
You will ensure reliable services, close alignment with business needs, and continuous improvement across enterprise applications, enabling the organization to operate efficiently and create long-term value.
This is a fixed-term position for a period of one year, established to support the transition of applications into Enterprise Application Services and to build a sustainable service management model around them.
The role will play a key part in ensuring clear ownership, effective governance, supplier coordination, financial transparency, and operational stability throughout the transition, while establishing the structures and ways of working required for the long-term management of the application portfolio.
You will be located in Ostrava, Czechia and report to Head of Enterprise Application Services.
Your key responsibilities
- Take end-to-end service management responsibility for assigned applications and services.
- Act as the main link between business stakeholders, application owners, external suppliers and internal IT teams.
- Ensure service quality, availability, performance and business satisfaction.
- Drive continuous improvement, harmonization and simplification of applications and related business processes.
- Support Business Owners in translating business requirements into actionable IT initiatives and practical solutions.
- Challenge and validate supplier estimates, proposals, delivery plans and resource requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance, service levels and contractual commitments, and drive corrective actions when required.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, service governance, risk management and operational readiness.
- Coordinate application lifecycle activities, including upgrades, transitions, consolidations and potential decommissioning.
- Support effective utilization of system functionality and proactively identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Financial management and controlling responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the financial follow-up of assigned services and applications.
- Understand and manage budgets, forecasts, actual costs, commitments and accruals related to the service portfolio.
- Monitor service costs against budget and identify deviations, risks and savings opportunities.
- Understand financial structures such as cost centers, internal orders, project costs and accounts / GL allocation.
- Support rolling forecasts and annual budgeting activities.
- Validate supplier invoices and ensure costs are allocated to the correct organizational units, cost centers or projects.
- Work closely with Finance and Controlling to ensure transparency and accuracy of application-related costs.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, contract consolidation and reduction of application run costs.
- Support business cases and investment proposals with relevant cost and benefit information.
What you need to be successful in this role
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in IT Service Management, Application Management or a comparable role.
- Strong customer and business orientation.
- Good understanding of IT service delivery, supplier management and application lifecycle management.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities in a complex international environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to challenge suppliers and make fact-based decisions.
- Good understanding of financial management and controlling principles, including budgeting, forecasting, cost monitoring and invoice validation.
- Ability to understand financial reports and translate them into practical service-management actions.
- Strong communication, negotiation and organizational skills.
- Proactive and independent way of working with a strong sense of ownership.
- Good change management and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to lead and influence without necessarily having direct line-management responsibility.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Technical skills that will help you adjust quicker
- Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps.
- ITSM tools and processes.
- Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- Experience with enterprise application environments, integrations and vendor-managed services is considered an advantage.
