Job Title: Thermal & Mechanical Development Engineer
Location: Shanghai
Responsibilities:
Product development:
- Review the mechanical requirements for products to be developed and give input / feedback concerning feasibility.
- Develop the mechanical concepts of luminaires in line with requested functionality, performance, quality, reliability, safety, produce-ability.
- Support competition and benchmarking activities by evaluating competitor products and by reviewing technological knowledge generated by for instance the Innovation Group or suppliers.
- Document technical specifications into complete Technical Product Documentation.
- Safeguard the functionality, performance, quality, reliability, safety, produce-ability and cost price of new modules, using techniques like DFSS, tolerance analysis, DFMEA and FMEA.
- Support Release of components and modules and support the release of the total product.
- Contribute to ideas for improvement of the existing product portfolio (quality, cost reductions, range extension, manufacturability).
- Implement agreed upon changes into updated detailed technical designs and specifications.
- Support Manufacturing in realizing product quality and process efficiency.
- Ensure consistency of mechanical solutions within and if possible beyond application clusters (standardization and rationalization of technical solutions).
- Thermal analysis and development of luminaires including subassemblies and components in line with user requirements and legal standards. Have capability to analysis thermal performance of luminaire and make heat treatment design to improve system efficiency.
- Review system requirements for products to be developed and give input / feedback concerning feasibility of mechanical, electrical and thermal treatment design.
- Develop the thermal management concepts of luminaires in line with requested functionality, performance, quality, reliability, safety, produce-ability.
- Interact with system architect, technical project leader and other team members to deliver the state-of-art thermal design: cost effective, max thermal performance, reliable thermal stability during lifetime.
- Bring new/emerging thermal technology, materials and solutions into our product design in order to improve the performance, lower the cost, and realize never-possible features.
Communication:
- As a member of a multi-disciplinary team contribute in providing information to other disciplines in an adequate and timely manner.
- Communicate clearly and pro-actively the support required to execute the allocated activities to team members and to the Development Manager.
- Give and ask for feedback in a respectful way enabling continuous improvement.
RESPONSABILITIES
Education:
- Bachelor or Master in mechanical with a strong thermal background Engineering
- Experience: Over 3years experience with mechanical and thermal design

Technical Competencies:
- Aluminum extrusion/Aluminum die casting/Plastic injection/Materials/Metal sheet/ Mechanical Design / Architecture/2D3D drawing/ Software Solidedge preferred
- Strong foundation in Thermal Engineering with expertise in Thermal Analysis and Heat Transfer.
- Experience with Flo EFD, Flotherm, SolidWorks, or ANSYS is a plus.
- Ability to do thermal design experiments, interpret test data, and correlate results with analytical or numerical models.
