About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Management Specialist covering Asia Pacific Operations. Control Management partners with business groups to develop and maintain a strong control environment leading to the early identification and sustainable mitigation of operational risk. Responsible for Risk Identification & Assessment, Control Design & Evaluation, Issues & Control Deficiencies, Control Governance & Reporting, and Control Programs.

In the Wholesale Operations Control team, the primary focus is on risk and control management, collaborating closely with business leaders to uphold the Risk Management Framework. This involves activities like RCSA, Issues Management, Governance, and Incident remediation to ensure the effectiveness of internal controls, processes, and procedures. The team engages with executive management to grasp the risks, exposures, and trends affecting the business, providing essential insights for decision-making. Additionally, they contribute to change projects and initiatives by offering risk awareness and control solutions.

This role specifically entails overseeing APAC control coverage for Commercial  and Investment Banking Operations, aligning with regional priorities, coordinating with BCM teams globally, and ensuring accurate reporting of the International Operations profile. The successful candidate will exhibit strong leadership qualities, effective relationship management, and the ability to navigate a complex corporate environment. They must possess a sense of urgency, a drive for results, and take personal accountability for their work.


In this role, you will:

  • Participate in identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating current and emerging risk exposures within Asia Pacific Operations
  • Provide risk management consulting to support Asia Pacific Operations in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and business controls
  • Monitor complex business specific programs and provide risk management consulting to support Asia Pacific Operations in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies
  • Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to Asia Pacific Operations
  • Provide guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of business specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk
  • Collaborate with Asia Pacific Operations to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations
  • Execute and manage the advancement of core risk program requirements, such as the Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA) program, Operational Risk Event analysis and reporting, and issues management.


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with first line of business controls and operational processes for large financial institutions
  • Solid working knowledge of financial services businesses (ie, wholesale and commercial and correspondent banking) its products and services, and relevant risks and controls of the business
  • Prior experience in process improvement, automation of control processes, quality assurance and quality control routines, and risk and control metrics and reporting
  • Working knowledge financial services regulatory and supervisory frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal) and ability to concisely articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
