Build a Career in Industrial Sales
Specialty Metals Corporation is looking for an Inside Sales Representative to join our team in Kent, Washington.
This is not a call-center or commission-only sales position. Our sales team works directly with customers on projects, helping turn drawings, specifications and material requirements into quotes and finished orders.
Previous metals experience is helpful, but it is not required. If you have experience in sales, account management, industrial distribution, manufacturing, construction supply, estimating, customer service, or another technical customer-facing role, we want to hear from you.
We'll teach the right person our materials, equipment and manufacturing processes.
Specialty Metals has served customers throughout the Pacific Northwest since 1981. We supply carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys and other specialty metals while also providing in-house processing and fabrication including laser cutting, waterjet cutting, shearing, forming, machining and welding.
What You'll Do
As an Inside Sales Representative, you'll work directly with customers as well as our CAD, purchasing and production teams to:
- Respond to customer requests for quotes and orders
- Review customer drawings, specifications, dimensions and material requirements
- Prepare accurate quotes for metal products, processing and fabricated parts
- Help customers identify material and processing solutions for their projects
- Communicate pricing, inventory availability and lead times
- Convert approved quotes into accurate sales orders for production
- Coordinate customer requirements with purchasing, production, quality, shipping and outside processors
- Follow up on quotes and orders while identifying opportunities to grow customer accounts
- Build strong customer relationships and help resolve questions or issues throughout the order process
- Manage order revisions and changing customer requirements
You'll be managing multiple RFQs and customer orders at the same time, so organization, accuracy, and communication are important.

Experience in any of the following could make you a strong candidate:
- Inside sales or account management

- Construction or building-material sales
- Industrial distribution or supply
- Estimating or quoting
- Manufacturing customer service
- Fabrication or machine-shop environments

Previous metal sales experience is preferred but not required.
