Position Summary:

The Testing Center Proctor oversees the implementation and administering of exams scheduled in the Testing Center while adhering to the test security practices and academic integrity. The Testing Center proctor informs students, faculty and other campus stakeholders about the testing procedures and ensures testing accommodations are met for all students who qualify under the ADA or Section 504 with academic accommodations.

Job Description:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Work under the Testing Center Coordinator to oversee all day-to-day operations of the Testing Center
  • Adhere to the academic integrity policy of Fort Lewis College
  • Work with students who are registered with the Accessibility Resource Center for alternative testing accommodations (extended time, enlarged text, text-to-speech, speech-to-text and testing software)
  • Check students in and out of the Testing Center
  • Proctor exams
  • Oversee timing of all exams taken in the Testing Center
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all testing materials
  • Work with faculty to ensure the transfer of information/materials needed to proctor exams
  • Follow regulations for outside test vendors by complying with their test security protocol
  • Facilitate email communication for the Testing Center’s email account
  • Collect proctor fees and inform the Testing Center Coordinator of any student account charges
  • Maintain communication with the Testing Center Coordinator regarding any IT issues, breaches in academic integrity, or accessibility issues.

Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Experience with computer operating systems,
  • Microsoft Office tools, and lockdown browsers
  • Organizational planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication, both orally and in writing 


Preferred Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:

  • CLEP, DSST Certifications (can become certified at FLC if not already certified)
  • Nationally certified with the National College Testing Association
  • Member of the NCTA (National College Testing Association)
  • Previous proctoring or teaching experience
  • Prior experience working with students with disabilities in post-secondary education 

Reports to: Associate Provost of Faculty Affairs and Student Success 

Work Environment: Proctoring is performed at the proctor station located in the Testing Center. Considerable time is spent working at a computer in a quiet, low-distracted environment. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook – email and calendar, and TEAMS. Must be able to multi-task as current tasks are often interrupted due to students entering and exiting the Testing Center.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and move around the room; talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, TEAMS phone, keyboard, including to reach, stoop, and kneel to access computer equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting is required. 

FSLA Status/Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/and Salary Range:·

  • 8 Month Position (during fall, spring semesters)
  • M-F during fall and spring semesters, up to 1000 hours

Compensation

The hourly range is $20.67 to $22.84/hour.
