Position Summary
The Corporate Accountant plays a key role within the Corporate Accounting team, reporting directly to the Assistant Corporate Controller. The Corporate Accountant will act as a resource and provide support on full cycle accounting and financial analysis related to the REIT’s corporate entities.The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical skills, be comfortable with complex transactions, interacting with internal stakeholders across the organization and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform monthly balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations;
Investigate and resolve account discrepancies by coordinating with Northwest’s various regional departments.
Prepare and execute journal entries and monthly bank reconciliations.
Assist in the monthly close process within Yardi and OneStream, including tracking accruals, intercompany balances, and prepaid expenses.
Conduct financial analytics comparing current and prior periods, as well as budget variances for corporate functions.
Prepare quarterly and year end files, maintain documentation, and assist with interim reviews and annual audit queries.
Contribute to monthly financial and management reporting, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
Assist in the annual budget process, meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
Provide support to other accounting staff and take on additional duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
Completion of our substantial progress toward obtaining CPA designation (Vital Infrastructure is a designated CPA training office).
Strong understanding of accounting principles under IFRS.
Advanced experience in corporate accounting, preferably in a similar role.
Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, technical, and communication skills.
Detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to meet tight deadlines while effectively managing a heavy workload.
Self-motivated with a strong team orientation and the ability to work independently.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
Working knowledge of Yardi 7.0 is considered an asset.
