Can you sit across from a founder or CFO and walk out with a signed retainer?
A fast-growing professional-services firm offering outsourced tax, accounting, payroll, IFRS reporting and fractional-CFO advisory services for SMEs across seven African markets is hiring a Business Development Manager to own new-client growth.
This is a pure business development role. The delivery engine is already built: chartered accountants trained at the Big 4, a contractual service model, and in-country competence across Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. What's missing is a closer who can fill the pipeline and convert it.
You'll be selling to serious operators founders tired of being their own CFO, finance directors who need audit-ready books before a raise, businesses expanding cross-border and tripping over tax exposure they can't see. The value proposition is strong and the deals are recurring. Your job is to find them and close them.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume full commercial responsibility for new client acquisition across East Africa, driving consistent business growth and revenue generation.
- Own the entire business development pipeline from prospecting and outbound outreach to referrals, EOIs/RFPs, discovery meetings, proposal development, negotiation, and deal closure.
- Build and nurture strategic relationships with founders, CEOs, CFOs, Finance Directors, investors, development finance institutions (DFIs), and other key referral partners to generate sustainable business opportunities.
- Articulate the value of outsourced finance solutions by understanding client challenges, presenting tailored solutions, and converting opportunities into long-term monthly retainer engagements.
- Continuously identify and pursue high-value opportunities across priority sectors, including fintech, real estate, healthcare, agribusiness, and professional services, while monitoring market trends and emerging industries.
Who are we looking for;
- A proven B2B closer with a track record in professional services - accounting, advisory, consulting, legal, payroll, or outsourced services.
- Excellent at selling retainer and advisory engagements to senior decision-makers; you understand how founders and CFOs actually buy.
- Financially literate - If you can hold a credible conversation about tax compliance, IFRS, or fractional-CFO value without needing an accountant in the room, this would be a great advantage for you.
- Deeply networked across East African SME and startup ecosystems (bonus: DFI, VC, or funding-network relationships) will be considered as a great advantage.
- Self-directed, resilient, and motivated by earning you measure yourself on deals closed, not meetings attended.
What's on offer
- Monthly retainer of KES 80,000 – 100,000, based on experience and calibre.
- Commission on every retainer you bring in.
- A delivery team with the discipline to make sure every deal you sell actually sticks and renews.
- A regional mandate with real autonomy.
A-players only. If you've consistently beaten targets selling into senior decision-makers, and you want a platform that shoots your career to the next level, this is your role.
