Underwriting Intern

• Reports to: Sr. Underwriter
• Travel: 0-10%
• Salary: $22.00/hr.
• Location: Chicago, IL, In-office

Role responsibilities

• Partner with underwriters to review insurance submissions and understand what makes a risk a good fit.

• Learn the fundamentals of risk assessment, pricing, and underwriting strategy through real examples and team discussions.

• Help organize underwriting information, update records, and keep key details accurate and easy to access.

• Research industry trends, emerging risks, and market insights, then summarize findings for the team.

• Contribute to team projects, meetings, and day-to-day coordination while building confidence in a professional business environment.

Key requsirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, preferably in Risk
• Management, Business Administration, or a related field (graduating between December 2027 and May 2028)
• Majoring in risk management, business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Basic understanding of insurance principles is a plus
