Director of Construction

Location: Santa Fe, NM
Compensation: $140,000-$160,000, depending on experience
Bonus: Annual/project-based bonus

About the Opportunity

We are working with a well-established, second-generation custom design-build firm in Santa Fe that has been building high-end homes and large-scale remodels for nearly 50 years.

Their projects are truly custom, typically ranging from $3M to $10M+, with around 6–9 active projects at a time. They're looking for a Director of Construction who can help oversee the bigger picture across their field operations while also bringing more structure, systems, and efficiency to the construction side of the business.

This is a leadership-level opportunity for someone who understands what happens in the field but is also strong with processes, documentation, technology, and communication.

What You'll Do

• Oversee construction progress across multiple high-end residential projects
• Lead and support Superintendents and field teams
• Help manage schedules, subcontractors, project priorities, and potential delays
• Serve as a bridge between the field and office teams
• Work closely with ownership, clients, architects, designers, subcontractors, and vendors
• Develop and improve construction processes, SOPs, documentation, and reporting
• Look for ways to improve efficiency through technology, including AI
• Participate in project and client meetings
• Help ensure projects stay organized, on schedule, and up to the company's standards
• Be an active part of the leadership team

What They're Looking For

• 10+ years of construction or construction management experience
• Strong background in custom residential construction and/or large-scale remodels
• Experience leading or overseeing field personnel
• Strong understanding of scheduling, subcontractors, plans, quality, and project execution
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once
• Comfortable communicating with high-end clients, architects, designers, and trades
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Comfortable with technology, Excel, and construction software such as Buildertrend
• Collaborative, approachable leadership style with a team-first mindset

Santa Fe experience is helpful but not required. Relocation candidates will be considered, and relocation assistance may be available.
