Job Title:
Engineering Technician IJob Description:
THE ROLE:
We are seeking a Quality Inspection Engineering Technician to perform accurate and timely incoming, in-process, first article, and final inspections for fluid management products manufactured at the Munmak site in Korea, supporting the Advanced Purity Solutions Division.
This hands-on role ensures that materials and finished products conform to engineering drawings, inspection standards, control plans, work instructions, and applicable quality requirements. The technician will support increasing production volume by providing reliable inspection coverage for manufacturing operations, including shift and weekend support when required.
You will work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to prevent nonconforming product escapes, maintain inspection traceability, support qualification activities, and strengthen data-driven quality performance.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform incoming, in-process, first article, qualification, and final inspections in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, inspection methods, control plans, sampling plans, and work instructions.
- Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections for machined, injection-molded, extruded, assembled, and other fluid management products.
- Use standard metrology equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, optical measurement systems, surface/roughness measurement equipment, Melt Flow Indexer, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) as assigned.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), critical-to-quality characteristics (CTQs), and visual acceptance criteria.
- Accurately record inspection results in approved quality systems, inspection reports, check sheets, databases, or other controlled records to maintain complete product and lot traceability.
- Identify, label, segregate, and promptly report nonconforming materials or products in accordance with established procedures.
- Support material review, defect containment, sorting, re-inspection, root cause investigation, and corrective action activities by providing accurate measurement data and inspection evidence.
- Provide timely inline inspection support to production teams and help prevent quality inspection activities from becoming a constraint to production flow or on-time shipment.
- Support new product introduction, process qualification, equipment qualification, mold or tooling validation, and engineering sample inspection activities, including FAI, CTQ, visual, and capability data collection.
- Perform routine verification, proper handling, and basic care of inspection and measurement equipment; confirm calibration status before use and report any abnormal condition.
- Follow cleanroom, EHS, contamination control, product handling, and document control requirements applicable to the assigned work area.
- Participate in quality improvement, Gemba, 5S, measurement system, and continuous improvement activities to reduce defects, scrap, inspection lead time, and human error.
- Communicate inspection results and quality concerns clearly to Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, supervisors, and production personnel.
- Maintain flexibility to support shift operations, weekend production, overtime, and changing production priorities when business requirements demand it.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of inspection and measurement equipment by reviewing equipment settings, connections, and operating conditions, and report or help identify the root cause of equipment abnormalities.
- Compile, review, and analyze inspection and capability data, prepare inspection reports, and provide accurate supporting data for qualification packages.
- upport or conduct assigned process and product audits and promptly communicate identified deviations to Quality, Manufacturing, and responsible personnel.
- Complete required inspection status or inventory transactions in the applicable system and support timely product release following satisfactory completion of all required inspections.
- Be accountable for the accuracy, completeness, traceability, and timely execution of assigned inspection activities and quality records.
- Review applicable SPC data and control charts, identify abnormal trends or out-of-control conditions, and promptly communicate findings to Manufacturing and Quality Engineering.
- Identify and report potential safety or health hazards and support actions to maintain safe working conditions and compliance with applicable departmental EHS procedures.
What We Seek:
- Associate degree or technical college diploma in mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, quality, metrology, or a related technical field; equivalent hands-on inspection experience will also be considered.
- At least 1 year of manufacturing, quality inspection, metrology, machining, molding, extrusion, or precision assembly experience is preferred; qualified entry-level candidates with strong technical aptitude may be considered.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand dimensions, tolerances, and basic GD&T requirements.
- Hands-on experience using common dimensional inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and adherence to controlled procedures and acceptance criteria.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and electronic data entry or quality record systems.
- Ability to recognize abnormalities, stop and escalate when requirements are not met, and maintain objective inspection decisions under production pressure.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering functions.
- Willingness and ability to support rotating shifts, weekend work, and overtime when required by production demand.
Outstanding candidates will have:
- Experience operating or programming CMM, optical vision measurement, contour, surface roughness, or other advanced metrology equipment.
- Working knowledge of first article inspection (FAI), CTQ inspection, statistical process control (SPC), process capability, and Gauge R&R or measurement system analysis.
- Experience with SAP, Camline, EtQ, electronic quality systems, or digital inspection data collection.
- Experience in semiconductor, high-purity fluid handling, cleanroom, medical, precision machining, polymer processing, or another highly controlled manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of nonconformance control, containment, root cause analysis, 5 Whys, and corrective action processes.
- A proactive quality mindset with a demonstrated ability to identify potential defects before product release.
- Basic English communication skills for understanding technical documents, drawings, and global quality requirements.
