Purpose
Be the first point of contact for the Commonwealth Attorney’s office, performing receptionist, secretarial and administrative dutiesEssential Functions
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Experience and education equivalent to a high school diploma with 1-2 years of experience performing clerical work in a law office or legal environment. Must be able to lift 5-10 pounds. Must be able to operate office and computer equipment; may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Must be able to communicate orally, and perceive and discriminate colors or shades of color. Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

- Answer phone and forward calls/take messages
- Assist visitors at the window
- Daily collection/distribution of mail
- Daily courthouse runs to drop-off and collect documents; sort and distribute to necessary recipients.
- Maintain Law Enforcement avoid date database
- Copy, fax and distribute materials as requested
- Receive and distribute all faxes and discovery requests to appropriate recipients
- Perform other secretarial duties such as preparing first call cases for court, requesting jury lists and maintaining prior conviction database
- Knowledge of legal terminology
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to maintain moderately complex legal records
- Ability to use various office equipment and computer software
- Excellent typing and computer skills; ability to maintain a high standard of accuracy when performing duties
- Plan and organize daily work, and establish priorities for the completion of tasks, and avoids duplication of effort.
