Job Title - Trainee Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Trainee Engineer to join our repair team. This role is ideal for someone looking to start or develop a career in the escalator industry. You will work alongside experienced engineers to learn how to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of escalator equipment safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist qualified engineers with the repair and refurbishment of lift systems

• Support fault finding and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical components

• Carry out basic repair tasks under supervision, including parts replacement and adjustments

• Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and service manuals

• Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and industry safety standards

• Maintain accurate records of work carried out

• Keep tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order

• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and occasionally customers

• Adhere strictly to health & safety regulations at all times

Training & Development

• Structured on-the-job training with experienced engineers

• Opportunity to work towards industry-recognised qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Lift Engineering)

• Progressive development into a fully qualified Lift Repairs Engineer role

Requirements

Essential:

• Strong interest in mechanical and/or electrical engineering

• Willingness to learn and develop new skills

• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Basic IT and communication skills

• Full UK driving licence (or willingness to obtain)

• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces

Desirable:

• Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)

• Previous experience in engineering, maintenance, or construction environments

• Basic understanding of tools and equipment
