Overview
As an Afterschool Counselor at the Peter Blum Family YMCA, you'll provide leadership and supervision for children in planned activities while ensuring their safety and well-being. Your responsibilities include creating a safe and healthy environment, implementing daily activities that meet children's needs and interests, maintaining program supplies and equipment, and following proper procedures for child sign-in/out. You'll build relationships with each child, communicate with parents, and participate in staff meetings and training. This role requires CPR and First Aid certification, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with children of all ages. You'll also contribute to member retention activities, special events, and fundraising efforts while embodying YMCA character traits in all activities.
