Beansprouts Preschool is looking for a part-time Extended Day Afterschool Counselor for the 2026-27 school year!

Founded in 1980 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Beansprouts offers preschool, afterschool, and day camp programming and serves children from ages 1.9 to 9. At Beansprouts, our decisions are driven by what is best for children – from crafting our rich, age-appropriate curriculum to thoughtfully constructing a classroom to represent the unique interests and qualities of the children that occupy it.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Beansprouts is seeking a part-time Extended Day Afterschool Counselor to join our preschool team for the 2026-27 school year. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in education to gain experience in the field and learn from a fun, creative, and supportive team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Nurture the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of preschool-aged children
• Establish a mutually respectful and productive classroom
• Engage and support children in play-based activities
• Work collaboratively with other team members
• Engage in ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, or be working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related (minimum of 90 credits required)
• Have a minimum of two-three years of experience working with children.
• Be able to work Monday - Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm
• Should demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills; and be team-oriented, nurturing, patient, and reliable
• Should be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, which may include lifting children and year-round outdoor activities

HOURS:

• Monday - Friday: 3 pm - 6 pm for the 2026-27 school year
• Part-time
• 10-month school year (plus an option to work with our summer program)

**As per Department of Health regulations, a background check and medical will be required for employment.
