Overview
The Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) seeks a strategic, hands-on director of education and events to lead its educational programming, deliver exceptional live and virtual events, and grow sponsorship, exhibition, and other non-dues revenue. This leader will build the processes, partnerships, and infrastructure that strengthen PCPC’s events portfolio and support long-term growth and member value.
Reporting to the EVP of marketing, membership and events, the director will collaborate across departments and with senior leadership to align education and events with PCPC’s strategic priorities, create meaningful member experiences, and generate revenue to support future investment. The incumbent will manage one direct report.
Educational Strategy
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive 12-month educational plan that includes virtual, hybrid, and in-person programming.
- Partner with the manager of education and subject-matter experts to develop content that addresses member needs, industry trends, and PCPC’s strategic objectives.
- Identify emerging topics, regulatory developments, and scientific advances that offer opportunities for timely, high-value programming.
- Establish feedback and measurement tools to evaluate programming, track outcomes, and guide improvements.
- Ensure educational offerings remain accessible, inclusive, and consistent with PCPC’s brand and mission.
- Build relationships with speakers, facilitators, and content contributors to expand programming quality and reach.
Live & Virtual Event Management
- Lead planning and execution for PCPC’s Annual Meeting, Science Symposium, and Legal & Regulatory Conference, from site selection through post-event reporting.
- Manage venue contracts, contractor agreements, banquet event orders, and event logistics.
- Select and manage vendors for audiovisual services, production, livestreaming, transportation, and other event needs; obtain competitive bids and negotiate agreements.
- Establish staff responsibilities, timelines, communications, and budget updates for each event.
- Direct on-site operations and resolve issues during live and hybrid events.
- Collaborate with the president and CEO and executive assistant on in-person board meetings.
- Partner with IT to select and optimize registration platforms, virtual event tools, mobile apps, and survey technology.
- Create engaging virtual and hybrid experiences that meet PCPC’s production and brand standards.
- Evaluate emerging event technology, formats, and audience engagement practices.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage event budgets, monitor performance against projections, and adjust plans as needed.
- Collaborate with the EVP, marketing team, and CFO to establish attendee pricing strategies.
- Prepare complete financial and operational close-out reports for the EVP and CFO following each event.
Sponsorship, Exhibits & Revenue Growth
- Develop tiered sponsorship packages and exhibition opportunities for PCPC’s signature events.
- Identify new sponsorship categories, partnership models, and revenue opportunities to grow the live event business.
- Cultivate and manage sponsor relationships across all three signature events, demonstrating return on investment and alignment with PCPC’s mission.
- Create valuable sponsor experiences through programming, networking, and visibility opportunities.
- Establish annual sponsorship and exhibit revenue targets, track pipeline activity, close rates, and renewals.
- Partner with membership and marketing teams to strengthen sponsor engagement and PCPC’s broader member community.
Leadership & Strategic Operations
- Manage and develop the manager of education while building a collaborative, accountable team culture.
- Create standardized event processes, guidelines, and playbooks to improve consistency, reduce risk, and support growth.
- Align education and event activities with PCPC’s strategic goals and business objectives.
- Represent PCPC at external meetings and industry forums and serve as a spokesperson when requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in association management, event management, or a related field, including demonstrated leadership responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree: an advanced degree or CMP/CAE designation is a plus.
- Familiarity with the personal care, cosmetics, or consumer products industry is preferred.
- Strong financial skills, including budget development, expense tracking, and executive reporting.
- Excellent written communication, public speaking, and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A proactive, resourceful approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and take a hands-on approach to planning, execution, and day-to-day responsibilities.
- Openness to embracing technology, including AI, to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of work.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to build productive relationships with members, sponsors, vendors, and colleagues.

Compensation, Travel & Work Schedule
- Salary: $127,000 – $135,000, plus annual performance-based bonus.
- Travel: Up to 30%.
- Hybrid Schedule: A minimum of two days per week in the office.
- Work Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with occasional extended hours tied to events or organizational needs.
