About Us

We are a Latvia-based startup building a finance function that combines accurate accounting, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and practical AI automation.

We are looking for a finance professional who can personally manage our accounting, configure the systems supporting it and use AI agents to carry out the work more efficiently.

Job Description

You will personally perform and take ownership of our accounting and financial operations, using AI agents to support your work. Your responsibilities will cover daily bookkeeping, reconciliations, closing, financial reporting, cash planning and applicable Latvian tax reporting.

You will personally carry out the complete migration from QuickBooks to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, using AI agents to support your work. You will be responsible for all implementation tasks, from planning and data preparation through configuration, import, validation and go-live. No external implementation partners will be involved. As part of preparing and importing the data, you will review the complete accounting records for the past five years, identify gaps and errors, and reconcile the migrated data to the source records. You must be comfortable both doing the accounting and setting up the accounting system.

AI agents will assist with document processing, transaction preparation, matching, reconciliation and reporting. You will define their tasks, supervise their execution, investigate exceptions and verify their outputs. You remain responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the work.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, expense accounting and bank reconciliations.
• Complete month-end and year-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and supporting documentation.
• Set up, configure and maintain Business Central, including the chart of accounts, posting groups, dimensions, VAT setup, bank accounts, accounting periods and relevant financial workflows.
• Personally execute the complete migration from QuickBooks to Business Central, including data extraction, account and tax mapping, cleansing, system configuration, trial imports, reconciliation and go-live. Review all accounting records for the past five years during migration preparation and import, investigate missing or incorrect entries, document corrections and preserve supporting documents and a traceable audit trail.
• Prepare and manage applicable Latvian tax and statutory reporting, including VAT, corporate income tax, payroll-related obligations and VID/EDS processes.
• Handle international customers, suppliers, contractors, foreign currencies and cross-border transactions.
• Manage cash-flow forecasts, budgets, runway monitoring and management reporting.
• Prepare payments and administer payroll and contractor payments within agreed approval controls.
• Configure, instruct and supervise AI agents supporting accounting workflows; improve their performance through clear instructions, reliable source data and systematic verification.
• Maintain traceability from original documents to accounting entries, resolve exceptions and protect confidential financial information.
• Identify practical opportunities to reduce costs, improve financial controls and apply lawful tax efficiencies.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience personally performing the full accounting cycle for companies in one or more European countries.
• Practical experience with accounting, taxation and statutory reporting in one or more European countries, and the ability to apply and verify Latvian requirements. Direct Latvian accounting and VID/EDS experience is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience independently setting up and configuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for real accounting operations, with the ability to personally execute a complete accounting-system migration.
• The ability to translate business requirements into appropriate accounting configuration and verify that postings, reconciliations and reports work correctly.
• Practical experience using AI agents or AI-supported automation in finance or accounting, including supervising outputs and handling errors.
• Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate incomplete records and reconcile inconsistent data.
• Independent working habits, ownership of deadlines and clear communication with the founder.
• Professional working proficiency in English and the ability to work effectively with Latvian-language financial documents and reporting requirements.
• A relevant accounting or finance qualification, or equivalent substantial practical experience.

Especially Valuable Experience

• Building or improving the accounting function of a startup or small international business.
• QuickBooks to Business Central migrations, Business Central implementations and comprehensive reviews and correction of historical accounting records.
• Configuring integrations with banks, payment platforms, document systems and Microsoft 365.
• Power Automate, Power BI, APIs or comparable tools used in practical finance workflows.
• Accounting for digital services, subscriptions and international contractor relationships.
• Preparing financial information for funding discussions or due diligence.
