Description
Job Description:
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer specializing in product design joins the R&D&I team to develop the physical architecture, chassis, and cooling systems for inverters and electrical cabinets to be manufactured. Their mission is to ensure the structural integrity of the equipment, optimize space (“packaging”), ensure proper heat dissipation for critical electronic components, and ensure compliance with applicable technical specifications and regulations.
Mission and Main Objective
• Develop the three-dimensional mechanical design of the equipment, ensuring that it can be manufactured and assembled.
• Efficiently manage the dissipation of heat generated by the electronics using advanced cooling systems.
• Ensure compliance with environmental protection, vibration, and mechanical safety regulations for the product.
Key Functions
• 3D Modelling and Drawings: Design the enclosure, support structures, ventilation ducts, and busbar mounting systems.
• Thermal Simulation (CFD): Perform computational fluid dynamics analyses to optimize heat sinks and cooling systems.
• Structural Analysis (FEA): Validate the mechanical strength of the chassis against transportation stresses, earthquakes, impacts (IK ratings), and vibrations.
• Material Selection: Determine the optimal materials (aluminium, steel, engineering plastics) by considering cost, weight, corrosion, and dielectric properties.
• Tolerance Management and DFMA: Apply design-for-manufacturing-and-assembly (DFMA) methodologies to ensure the equipment’s watertightness (IP ratings).
Profile Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. A master’s degree or specialization in Thermal Simulation or Product Development is highly desirable.
• Experience: More than 8 years in mechanical design of capital goods, electrical cabinets, power electronics, or the automotive industry.
Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken, is required.
Technical Skills:
- Mechanical design of industrial electronic equipment.
- Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor).
- Actual experience with thermal and structural simulation tools (ANSYS Fluent, SolidWorks Simulation, Autodesk CFD) is desirable.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, casting, plastic injection moulding, machining).
Soft Skills: Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams (with electrical and software engineers), attention to detail, and a focus on innovation.
