Project Manager | Interiors

Overview

A national, award-winning interdisciplinary architecture, engineering, and design practice is seeking a Project Manager for its San Jose interior design team. The practice is known for integrated, purpose-driven work that combines research, sustainability, planning, technical excellence, and client-centered design. This hybrid position works in the office three days per week and will support sophisticated science and technology, workplace, and other complex project environments.

Position Description

The Project Manager will lead multiple projects from concept through completion, guide multidisciplinary teams, and build long-term strategic client relationships. This role balances design quality, technical rigor, operational accountability, and exceptional service while mentoring teams in a collaborative studio environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage multiple projects from concept through completion.

• Develop and oversee work plans, budgets, schedules, staffing, and project performance.

• Maintain design quality, technical accuracy, code compliance, and coordinated delivery across all phases.

• Serve as the primary client liaison, building trust and translating goals into actionable strategies.

• Lead presentations, facilitate approvals, and maintain clear communication with clients and stakeholders.

• Direct, mentor, and support project teams while fostering collaboration and accountability.

• Coordinate consultants and internal disciplines to achieve integrated project delivery.

• Manage contracts, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change orders, and organized project documentation.

• Leverage team strengths to deliver projects on budget and on schedule.

Skills & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

• 8+ years of increasingly responsible project-management experience on complex projects.

• Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale projects and multiple smaller projects simultaneously.

• Experience with tenant improvements and core-and-shell work preferred.

• Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, presentation, and client relationship skills.

• Expertise with project-management software and Microsoft Office.

• Proficiency with Revit, SketchUp, and other industry-standard design software preferred.

• Professional licensure, LEED accreditation, and Design-Build delivery experience are preferred.
