Quarry Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quarry Manager to oversee all aspects of quarry operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant extraction and processing of raw materials while achieving production targets and maintaining environmental standards.
As a key member of the operations team, you will lead site personnel, drive operational performance and ensure the quarry operates in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily quarry operations, including drilling, blasting, excavation, crushing and screening activities.
- Develop and implement operational plans, budgets and production schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations and company standards.
- Lead, coach and develop site employees while fostering a strong safety culture.
- Monitor and manage plant, equipment and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to maximise equipment availability and reliability.
- Manage quarry resources, including reserves, equipment utilisation and inventory levels.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance product quality.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities, suppliers and local stakeholders.
- Prepare and present operational reports, forecasts and performance analysis to senior management.
- Manage environmental permits and ensure ongoing compliance with environmental obligations.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 7-10 years' experience within quarry operations, mining or a related heavy industrial environment.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of quarrying techniques, extraction processes, crushing and screening operations.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and environmental compliance.
- Proven experience managing budgets, operational plans and site resources.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
- Sound project management, planning and organisational skills.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to work in an outdoor operational environment.
- Knowledge of the German language will be highly regarded but is not essential.
