The Quarry Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and sustainable management of quarry extraction, production, maintenance and operational support activities. The role ensures continuity of quarry and processing operations while achieving safety, quality, productivity, cost, environmental and customer service objectives. The Quarry Manager drives Operational Excellence, develops people, optimizes assets and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies. The position is accountable for delivering the best competitive cost position through continuous improvement of mining, processing and maintenance activities while supporting long-term resource development and business growth.
The Quarry Manager ensures full compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and promotes a Zero Harm culture throughout the site. The role leads safety initiatives, assures completion of required training, investigates incidents and near misses, implements corrective actions and guarantees compliance with all permits and regulatory obligations.
The Quarry Manager manages all extraction activities according to Operational Excellence principles, ensuring continuity of raw material supply to production facilities. Responsibilities include optimizing drilling, blasting, loading, hauling and extraction activities, maximizing resource recovery, controlling waste generation and coordinating quarry planning and reserve development activities to support the long-term sustainability of the operation.
The Quarry Manager directs and coordinates all production and mineral processing activities, ensuring that customer requirements and quality standards are consistently achieved. The role is responsible for delivering production plans, improving operational efficiency, increasing yield, throughput and reliability, monitoring operational performance and ensuring continuity of production to meet business and customer needs.
The Quarry Manager is accountable for the reliability, availability and performance of plant and mobile equipment. The position ensures the implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, identifies capital investment needs, supports engineering and modernization projects and guarantees the effective lifecycle management of all site assets.
The Quarry Manager oversees product management activities, including monitoring and reducing by-product and waste inventories, maintaining product specifications and technical documentation, participating in planning and performance review meetings, supporting sourcing activities and collaborating with commercial teams to enhance customer service and business performance.
The Quarry Manager prepares and manages annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets, monitors financial performance, analyses budget deviations and identifies opportunities for cost reduction and productivity improvement. The role ensures the effective use of financial resources and supports investment decisions that improve safety, operational continuity and competitiveness.
The Quarry Manager continuously drives improvement initiatives across quarry, production and maintenance activities. The role establishes and monitors operational and safety KPIs, implements Operational Excellence methodologies, identifies opportunities to improve performance and competitiveness and promotes innovation, digitalization and best practices throughout the operation.
The Quarry Manager provides leadership to supervisors, technicians and operators, ensuring effective recruitment, training, development and succession planning. The role promotes a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance, coaches team members, supports change management initiatives and ensures strong employee engagement across the site.
The successful candidate demonstrates strong decision-making capabilities, analytical thinking, planning and prioritization skills, the ability to optimize work processes and a proven track record of delivering results. The role requires effective communication, team-building capabilities, the ability to manage change and ambiguity and a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
The position requires a solid understanding of mining and mineral processing operations, maintenance and asset management practices, health and safety regulations, environmental compliance, financial management, Operational Excellence principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex industrial operations is essential
