Employment & Labor Of Counsel | Employer-Side Counseling & Litigation
Newark, New Jersey | $240,000–$280,000/year
This role focuses on helping employers navigate complex workplace issues before they become disputes and defending them when litigation or administrative proceedings arise. You’ll advise management on employment matters, handle employment litigation, and guide clients through issues involving wage and hour compliance, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, and workplace policies.
The opportunity combines sophisticated employer-side work with direct client counseling and collaboration across an established legal team.

What You’ll Do
• Advise employers and management on workplace policies, employee issues, accommodations, leaves, discipline, terminations, and compliance.
• Counsel clients on wage and hour matters, employee classification, restrictive covenants, confidentiality, and trade secrets.
• Draft and negotiate employment agreements, restrictive covenants, confidentiality agreements, and related documents.
• Defend employers in employment litigation and administrative proceedings involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and wrongful termination claims.
• Handle trade secret matters involving employee misappropriation and restrictive covenant violations.
• Represent employers before federal and state courts and administrative agencies, including the EEOC.
What You’ll Need
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 8+ years of employment experience.
• Substantial employer-side employment counseling experience.
• Meaningful employment litigation experience.
• Experience with restrictive covenant drafting and enforcement and wage and hour requirements.
• Experience with trade secret claims.
• Strong drafting, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
• New Jersey and New York Bar admission, or New Jersey admission with eligibility and commitment to obtain New York admission.
Preferred
• Experience with Department of Labor audits.
• Workplace investigation experience.
• Traditional labor experience.
