Position Summary
The Financial Analyst supports Global Operations Finance Services (GOFS) by executing finance transactions, maintaining financial and master data integrity, and delivering accurate reporting for global stakeholders. This role primarily supports in-bound freight planning processes in Malaysia and reporting activities across teams in Malaysia and global sites (primarily US), ensuring timely execution of finance related transactions, data management activities and consistent service delivery. The position also contributes to process standardization, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts within a global shared services environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transactional Finance & Data Management
- Execute and support finance-related transactions in accordance with established policies, procedures, and service level agreements
- Create, maintain, and update financial and master data within ERP and business systems
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial and operational data across multiple systems
- Perform data validation, reconciliations, and exception management activities to support reporting accuracy
- Investigate and resolve transactional discrepancies, system issues, and data-related inquiries from business stakeholders
- Partner with US and Malaysia operations finance teams to ensure timely processing and issue resolution
2. Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare, validate, and distribute recurring and ad hoc operational and financial reports
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting activities through accurate data preparation and analysis
- Support inbound freight planning and forecasting by providing reliable data, accurate data analysis for insights and identify improvement opportunities
- Maintain KPI dashboards and performance metrics to support business decision-making
- Respond to reporting requests and provide timely analysis to stakeholders across global locations
3. Data Governance, Controls & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, data governance standards, and internal control requirements
- Support audit requests by providing accurate documentation, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures, and work instructions
- Identify and escalate risks, control gaps, and compliance concerns as appropriate
4. Global Stakeholder Support
- Serve as a key finance support partner for operations and finance teams across Malaysia and Global sites
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve transactional, reporting, and data-related issues
- Provide proactive communication regarding reporting deliverables, issue resolution, and process changes
5. Continuous Improvement & Transformation
- Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency, reporting accuracy, and data quality
- Support automation, standardization, and digitization initiatives within finance operations
- Participate in system implementations, enhancements, user acceptance testing (UAT) where applicable
- Contribute to the development of scalable and sustainable global operations finance processes and reporting solutions
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Finance Operations, Shared Services
- Knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle, Hyperion, Tableau etc.)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, Lookups, Macros)
- Power BI dashboard development and data visualization
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- At least 2-5 years of work experience
- Demonstrates a growth mindset with a proactive approach, taking ownership, driving initiatives, and delivering results with accountability
