Job Description:
Teach undergraduate biology lecture courses or laboratory courses or both as needed for the Introductory Biology Program in the Department of Biological Sciences. Provide service in support of the Introductory Biology Program or Department of Biological Sciences as needed.
Duties:
80% Teach undergraduate biology lecture courses or laboratory courses or both for the Introductory Biology Program in the Department of Biological Sciences.
10% Provide service in support of the Introductory Biology Program and Department of Biological Sciences as needed. These may include providing help with required program assessment each semester or serving on either standing or ad hoc committees for example.
10% Additional duties as deemed necessary by the Associate Chair of Introductory Biology, Associate Chair of Undergraduate Studies, or the Department Chair to fit the changing needs of a growing department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field; 3 years experience with standard laboratory techniques used in biology laboratories. Experience teaching at the college level;. This can include experience as a graduate assistant.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology,or related field; and 3 years experience with strong training in biology, experience with multimedia or other modern instructional technology or both; familiarity with practices of active learning and inquiry-based learning.
Job Competencies required:
Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point;
Familiar with standard biology laboratory techniques.
