Summary: Support department operations in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and continuous improvement. The role of the Maintenance Team Leader requires that s/he provides leadership and direction to other technicians to ensure that all downtime calls are responded to and resolved in a timely manner, as well as support operations in attaining their daily goals. Ensure that downtime notes are filled out for their shift and report out at Gemba. Responsible for making sure that appropriate information is passed on to the Maintenance Technicians on other shifts, to Maintenance leadership, and to Production Engineers as needed. Write One Point lessons using the assistance of Maintenance Engineers as needed. Train/teach other technicians in areas where they need improvement or have not been trained before. Help to identify items that need to be added to MRO or purchased as spares. Analyze downtime and assist with coming up with countermeasures to prevent further downtime in the future. Utilize the Gemba White board problem solving and update and evaluate the training matrix.
Essential Functions: Includes the following other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at the Astemo USBRP2 site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company:
1.) Ensure all safety guidelines are followed, including but not limited to:
a. Modeling and enforce PPE requirements
b. Ensuring all machines are properly guarded
c. Identifying and closing potential safety risks
d. Reporting/escalating safety risks
e. Utilizing and teaching stop-call-wait to ensure a safe work environment
f. Seeking to improve the safety environment daily
2.) Ensure all process guidelines are followed, including but not limited to:
a. Following standardized work and training by using standardized work
b. Properly utilizing measurement tools (i.e.: gauges, calipers, micrometers), as applicable
c. Using the problem-solving process to investigate and countermeasure problems
d. Understanding basics of providing quality parts to customer
3.) Support area cost management including is not limited to:
a. Proper scrap management
b. Reducing equipment downtime
c. Supporting department supervisor in managing operation budget
4.) Ensure proper 5S of area, including but not limited to:
a. Standard location for all operational tools
b. Establishing and maintaining good workplace organization
c. Managing all end of shift requirements for team members
d. Establishing and maintaining good visual control for the area
5.) Ensure team members are developed and well-trained, including but not limited to:
a. Training using standardized work
b. Utilizing training level system and training matrix
c. Developing priorities and managing accordingly
Qualifications: Knowledge, skills & abilities: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required. This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner. 1. Must have mechanical and electrical aptitude
2. Knowledge of processes in required areas
3. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose a wide variety of machine malfunctions
4. Must have good judgment, organization, and leadership abilities
5. Must be able to understand and uphold the quality levels for each process in responsibility
6. Mechanical aptitude - the ability to do basic machine adjustments to ensure quality products
Experience: Similar leadership experience preferred, but not necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory responsibilities may be possible at times to perform the job duties as designated by area management.
Working Conditions: Indoor, climate controlled, and clean environment.
Physical Demands:
Standing - Up to 10-12 hours per day
Lifting - Parts and supplies, up to 40 pounds
Carrying - Parts and supplies, up to 40 pounds
Maneuvering - Use mechanical assistance, various levers
Walking – Traveling to and from production area to maintenance shop
Reaching - Upward and downward reaching to repair machines
Handling - Various supplies/parts of different weights, up to 40 pounds
Seeing – Part replacement on machines and reading HMI
Overtime - Must be able to work daily and weekly overtime requirements, more than 40 hours per week.
Travel: Less than 5% of domestic travel may be required as needed.
Work Environment: Working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to office and laboratory areas.
