American Pasteurization Company (APC) is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Manager to manage the recruiting process, and to administer and implement HR policies, procedures, programs, and documentation. In this role, the HR Manager will participate in employee relations management and the termination process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages the recruitment process, partnering with operations leaders; identifies available openings, posts open positions, reviews applicants, schedules and participates in interviews, prepares offers, and schedules pre-employment testing.
- Partners with Operations here and in California to manage the performance of the team (Performance conversations, salary increases, etc.).
- Maintains leave management records (FMLA).
- Facilitates Safety team meetings and works closely with the General Plant Manager to insure a safe environment
- Conducts new employee orientation/onboarding.
- Manages payroll
- Administration of the Paychex HR system, data entry of new employees and manage all functions
- Provides assistance to employees on all HR related questions and concerns.
- Maintains personnel files for both active and terminated employees.
- Manages worker’s compensation from injury to claim close.
- Partners with CFO and brokers to manage benefits during open enrollment; manages benefits administration on an on-going basis to include 401(k) management.
- Processes unemployment claims with the assistance of Paychex
- Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned VP and General Manager of Operations
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in an HR or related field.
- HR Certification Preferred
Experience:
- 5-10 years of progressive HR Experience
- At least 3 years of Manufacturing HR experience.
- Experience managing FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, and ADA. Proficiency with an HRIS/Time & Attendance system.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to understand, interpret and easily communicate and align policies and practices to the Eaton leadership attributes
- Proven ability to influence and work effectively across all levels in a highly matrixed environment
- Demonstrate discretion, able to work with sensitive and confidential materials and possess good business judgement
- General knowledge of employment laws and ability to apply legal concepts to real world situations
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal across a wide audience
- Proven ability to deal with conflict and diffuse difficult situations
