Job Summary

Murphy Company USA is seeking dependable and experienced Industrial Pipe Insulators to join our team in the Greater Des Moines area. This position involves installing insulation on industrial piping systems, particularly those used in refrigeration and other mechanical applications. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to work independently and as part of a crew.

Job Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, fit, and install insulation on industrial piping systems and mechanical equipment.
• Install insulation materials and protective jacketing, including PVC and metal jacketing, as required.
• Work with piping systems associated with industrial refrigeration and related mechanical applications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and installation instructions.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and insulation equipment safely and effectively.
• Ensure insulation is properly installed to meet project specifications and quality standards.
• Follow jobsite safety procedures, company policies, and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow facility-specific safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to complete work efficiently and on schedule.
• Report progress, material needs, and jobsite concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Travel to project locations as required.

Qualifications

• Previous industrial pipe insulation experience preferred.
• Experience with industrial refrigeration systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with cold storage, food and beverage facilities, ammonia refrigeration, or Freon refrigeration systems is beneficial.
• Knowledge of insulation materials, installation methods, and protective jacketing.
• Ability to read construction drawings and follow project specifications.
• Ability to measure accurately and safely operate hand tools and power tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and wearing required PPE.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various industrial and construction environments.
• Ability to lift and carry insulation materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and jobsite conditions.
• Ability to work from ladders, lifts, or scaffolding when required and properly authorized.

Compensation and Benefits
