Job Description Summary

The Senior Director, Enterprise D&A Cloud Transformation, will lead one of the company's largest and most strategic digital transformation programs: the migration of our Vernova Data Lake, Analytics, and AI platform ecosystem from AWS to Microsoft Azure.



This leader will own the end-to-end migration strategy, governance, execution, and operational readiness required to transition Databricks, Tableau, HVR, enterprise data pipelines, analytics solutions, AI/data agent capabilities, web applications, and supporting platform services to Azure while ensuring business continuity and minimal disruption.



The role requires a unique blend of executive leadership, large-scale program management, cloud architecture knowledge, data and analytics expertise, organizational change management, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will lead a matrixed global organization comprised of architecture, engineering, analytics, governance, operations, cybersecurity, PMO, and business teams to deliver a modern, scalable, secure, and cost-effective Azure-enabled data ecosystem.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities 

 

1. Enterprise Transformation Leadership 

• Serve as the executive leader accountable for the migration of the enterprise Data & Analytics ecosystem from AWS to Azure. 

• Establish and execute the overall transformation strategy, roadmap, governance model, and operating cadence. 

• Define success criteria, business outcomes, milestones, risk management processes, and executive reporting mechanisms. 

• Drive alignment across executive leadership, business stakeholders, technology teams, cybersecurity, finance, and external partners. 

• Ensure the transformation delivers measurable improvements in scalability, agility, performance, resilience, and cost optimization. 

 

2. Program Management Office (PMO) Leadership 

• Establish and lead the transformation PMO organization. 

• Lead overall program governance, project planning, dependency management, forecasting, risk mitigation, and executive communications. 

• Build and oversee program management, Agile, SAFe, release planning, and portfolio management disciplines. 

• Develop executive dashboards, program health metrics, RAID processes, and leadership updates. 

• Coordinate onboarding and mobilization of internal teams, contractors, consulting partners, and technology vendors. 

 

3. Cloud & Platform Architecture Leadership 

• Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Cybersecurity teams to define target-state Azure architecture and migration strategy. 

• Establish platform standards including Landing zones, CI/CD frameworks, Infrastructure-as-Code, Environment strategy, Monitoring and observability, FinOps controls, Security architecture, Naming conventions & Platform governance 

• Drive decisions regarding Azure services, Databricks architecture, networking, identity management, platform resiliency, disaster recovery, and operational support models. 

• Ensure platform scalability, performance, reliability, and compliance requirements are achieved. 

 

4. Data Platform Modernization 

• Lead migration and modernization of Databricks platforms, Data Lake environments, HVR replication capabilities, Enterprise Data Lake services, Data-as-a-Service platforms, API and integration services, Data Agent capabilities and Custom-built data services 

• Govern migration sequencing, dependency management, and cutover planning. 

• Ensure successful coexistence of AWS and Azure environments throughout the transition period. 

 

5. Data Architecture, Semantic Models & AI Enablement 

• Establish enterprise standards and governance for, Data architecture, Data modeling, Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold), Semantic models, Metadata management, AI and Data Agents 

• Lead the centralized architecture function responsible for best practices, reusable patterns, standards, and design governance. 

• Ensure consistency and scalability across business domains and analytics products. 

 

6. Engineering Delivery Leadership 

• Lead global teams of Data Architects, Data Engineers, Platform Engineers, and Solution Architects. 

• Drive migration execution across domains, business units, and functional areas. 

• Establish engineering productivity metrics, quality standards, development frameworks, and deployment processes. 

• Ensure timely delivery of migration waves while maintaining platform stability and operational performance. 

 

7. Analytics Transformation Leadership 

• Oversee migration and modernization of enterprise analytics solutions including: Power BI, Tableau, Oracle Analytics, Financial Data Solutions, Executive dashboards and, Self-service analytics environments 

• Drive adoption of modern analytics, semantic modeling, and enterprise reporting standards. 

• Ensure accuracy, performance, scalability, and business continuity throughout migration activities. 

 

8. Operational Analytics & Platform Intelligence 

• Establish enterprise-wide operational analytics for platform health and adoption. 

• Develop capabilities to monitor: Platform usage, User adoption, Capacity utilization, System performance, Cost optimization, Service quality, Data integrity and SLA compliance 

• Implement proactive alerting, observability, and automated monitoring capabilities. 

 

9. Governance, Risk & Compliance 

• Partner closely with Cybersecurity, Privacy, Internal Audit, and Compliance organizations. 

• Ensure compliance with: SOX requirements, PII controls, Data protection regulations, Enterprise governance standards and Security and access controls 

• Drive governance frameworks, control validation, audit readiness, and remediation activities. 

• Establish enterprise standards for lineage, metadata, data quality, access management, and policy enforcement. 

 

10. Quality Engineering & Automated Validation 

• Establish a comprehensive testing and validation strategy that minimizes business user involvement. 

• Implement automated testing frameworks for: Data validation, Data reconciliation, Data integrity, Platform testing, Dashboard testing, Report validation, Regression testing and Performance testing 

• Ensure automated comparisons between AWS and Azure environments at table, pipeline, semantic model, and dashboard levels. 

• Achieve high-confidence migration cutovers through robust testing and validation processes. 

 

11. Data Operations & Service Excellence 

• Lead development of the target-state operational support model. 

• Establish monitoring, support, incident response, knowledge management, runbooks, and service management processes. 

• Drive operational readiness and transition planning for all migrated platforms and capabilities. 

• Ensure support organizations are equipped to manage Azure-native operations at scale. 

 

12. Change Management & Business Transition 

• Lead enterprise-wide change management, communications, training, and adoption efforts. 

• Develop detailed migration, cutover, and transition strategies. 

• Ensure business teams continue delivering outcomes throughout the migration lifecycle. 

• Drive the objective of near-zero business disruption during all phases of the transformation. 

• Coordinate production cutovers, hypercare, stabilization, and post-go-live support activities. 

 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data & Analytics, or related field. 

• 15+ years of experience leading large-scale technology, data, analytics, or cloud transformation programs. 

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience managing global teams and complex enterprise portfolios. 

• Demonstrated leadership of multi-year cloud migration or modernization initiatives involving data platforms and analytics ecosystems. 

• Strong knowledge of: Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Data Lake architectures, Data integration platforms, Analytics and BI ecosystems, Data governance and Cybersecurity and compliance frameworks 
• Experience managing large budgets, vendor relationships, and strategic technology partnerships. 

• Strong executive presence with proven ability to communicate effectively across technical, business, and executive audiences.  
• Preferred Qualifications 
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale AWS-to-Azure migrations. 
  • Experience with Databricks, Tableau, Power BI, HVR, Data-as-a-Service platforms, AI/ML platforms, and modern data architectures. 
  • Strong understanding of Medallion Architecture, semantic models, metadata management, knowledge graphs, ontologies, and AI agents. 
  • Experience operating within highly regulated, global enterprise environments. 
  • Certifications such as: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator, Databricks Certified Professional, PMP, PgMP, SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), SAFe Agilist
