Position Summary:
The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day coordination, maintenance and improvement of a company’s transportation processes. Being a Fleet Supervisor you will assist with purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Help maintain existing vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services.
Additionally, the Fleet Supervisor will assist administer insurance policy coverage, provide input on agreements, and participate in claim resolution along with the Fleet Manager. Enforces and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily operations of fleet safety policies and procedures
- Maintain an up-to-date master equipment list (for accounting asset tracking and insurance purposes amongst others)
- Scheduling regular maintenance on all vehicles
- Maintenance/Repairs: Identify preferred repair shops for each branch, oversee pricing for reports as needed, approve vehicle repairs over per company policy, ensure repair shops are following policy and resolve any disputes, establish/track PM schedule, track log maintenance for each piece of rolling stock
- Ordering urgent or emergency repairs as needed
- Assist purchasing vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet
- Managing vehicle licensure and registration
- Assist manage /oversee – related items to the fleet such as Driving in training Program, In Cab cameras, GPS systems, daily truck inspections, etc.
- Providing reports to management on schedules, maintenance and fleet progress
- Enforcing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency
Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a Fleet Supervisor or similar supervisory role
- Typically requires a minimum of 2-3 years related experience.
- Able to work varying days/hours as needed
- Clean driving record/ability to operate company vehicles
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of basic vehicle mechanics, including the ability to identify when major repairs are needed
- Highly organized and communicative – must be able to interact effectively at all levels, both internally and externally
- Ability to perform in an environment with ambiguous situations, rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
- Excellent leadership skills, including goal-setting, motivation and training
- Exceptional organization, time management and multitasking abilities
- Keen attention to detail
Computer Skills:
- Proficient with computers and the following but not limited to applications and platforms; Microsoft Word, Excel & GoogleSuite
