Position Summary
The Inventory & Supply Chain Senior Manager leads the end-to-end execution of the company's finished goods supply chain for always-on SKUs as well as owning the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process. This role owns purchasing requirements, inventory targets, and supplier/contract manufacturer (CM) relationships for always-on SKUs to ensure an uninterrupted, cost-effective, and quality-compliant supply of raw materials and finished goods, while balancing cost (MOQ/EOQ), demand, and working capital.

This is a highly visible, cross-functional role that partners with PD/Design, Regulatory, Demand Planning, Sales/Marketing, and Finance to optimize inventory position and minimize out-of-stocks and excess/obsolescence risk. The role suits a strategic operator who thrives on data-driven decision-making, process rigor, and cross-functional influence in a fast-paced, trend-sensitive environment, and who monitors inventory performance, drives data accuracy, and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Contract Manufacturer (CM) Relationship Management

  • Serve as Supply Chain's primary point of contact in meetings with the network of contract manufacturers and suppliers for always-on SKUs.
  • Manage CM relationships, including performance management and capacity planning; lead regular business reviews covering quality, delivery, cost, and capacity.
  • With support from the Packaging team, negotiate manufacturing agreements, pricing, service levels, and terms with CMs and key suppliers; manage CM scorecards, drive continuous improvement, and support periodic RFQs/re-bids as needed.
  • Own the purchase order lifecycle for always-on SKUs: place and manage POs for finished goods, bulk, and components; track order status, confirm lead times, and expedite as needed to protect replenishment dates.
  • Manage week-to-week production line scheduling with CMs, aligning run dates to demand priority, component availability, and CM capacity; coordinate planned maintenance windows to minimize disruption to the schedule.
  • Lead capacity planning discussions with CMs against the demand plan/forecast, flagging constraints (MOQs, changeover time, seasonal capacity limits) early enough to inform production and launch timelines.
  • Own OTIF performance for finished goods: monitor delivery against plan, identify at-risk orders proactively, and communicate schedule risk to Sales/Planning stakeholders in advance.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for supply disruptions, line downtime, component shortages, and quality holds; drive CMs to corrective action plans (CAPA) and verify effectiveness of fixes.

Bill of Materials (BOM) Management

  • Own the accuracy and maintenance of BOMs within the ERP system for always-on SKUs, ensuring alignment with formulas, artwork, and packaging specifications.
  • Partner with R&D, Regulatory, and Packaging Engineering on BOM changes, formula updates, and component substitutions.
  • Ensure BOM changes are properly version-controlled and communicated to CMs to prevent production errors.

Material Requirements Planning & Purchase Commitments

  • Own and maintain the MRP process, ensuring data integrity across bills of materials (BOMs), lead times, safety stock levels, and reorder points.
  • Translate demand forecasts provided by Finance department into detailed production schedules for material and finished goods, quantifying purchasing needs (primary and secondary components as well as finished goods).
  • Own purchase commitment planning for always-on SKUs — issuing POs and balancing minimum order quantities (MOQs), economic order quantities (EOQs), lead times, and raw material/packaging buys against forecast.
  • Balance purchase commitments against demand volatility to protect supply continuity while minimizing excess/obsolete risk.
  • Identify and resolve material shortages, excess positions, or supply constraints before they impact production or customer demand.

Inventory Lifecycle Management & Performance Analysis

  • Maintain optimal inventory targets (safety stock, min/max, days of supply) to balance service levels, working capital, and obsolescence risk; manage inventory builds across multiple warehouse locations.
  • Analyze inventory performance metrics, including inventory turns, days of inventory on hand, aging stock, and obsolescence risk (including lot/batch code tracking).
  • Identify slow-moving, aging, or obsolete stock and recommend corrective action (disposal, off-price channel, or reallocation).
  • Develop and maintain dashboards/reports to track inventory KPIs and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Oversee monthly reconciliation of physical inventory/cycle counts against system records across all locations; investigate and resolve discrepancies and adjustments.
  • Support month-end and year-end close, including inventory valuation, reserve calculations, and variance analysis vs. prior forecasts.
  • Help identify, lead, and track ongoing cost-savings and margin-improvement projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; PMP, Six Sigma, or APICS/CSCP certification a plus. MBA a plus but not required.
  • 8 years of experience in product development, program/project management, or supply chain within cosmetics, beauty, or personal care.
  • Experience managing contract manufacturer (CM) or supplier relationships, including negotiations and scorecards
  • Proven track record managing complex supply chain and cross-functional collaboration (PD/Design, Regulatory, Packaging, Finance, Demand Planning).
  • Deep understanding of the cosmetics product development lifecycle: formulation, packaging, regulatory/claims, sourcing, and manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency with MRP and ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving alignment across teams without direct authority.
  • Experience managing contract manufacturer (CM) or supplier relationships, including negotiations and scorecards.
  • Analytical skills - inventory KPIs, turns, days-on-hand, variance analysis.
  • Familiarity with month-end/year-end close processes (inventory valuation, reserves).
