Description
About the role
We’re looking for a Draughtsperson to join our team in Tauranga. This is more than a drafting role. You’ll take early concepts and turn them into practical, buildable outputs for fabrication and installation.
You’ll work across 3D modelling, detailed design and shop drawings, with a strong focus on structural steel, pipework, and stainless and carbon steel fabrication. This is good work for someone who likes being close to the workshop reality, thinking through how things are made, installed and maintained, and helping shape better outcomes along the way.
There’s also scope to support product development work, particularly across industrial and water sector solutions.
Key role responsibilities
- Produce 3D models, detailed drawings and shop drawings that are accurate, practical and ready for manufacture.
- Take structural steel, pipework and fabricated product concepts through to buildable design outputs.
- Work closely with workshop and site teams to make sure designs can be fabricated, installed and maintained safely and efficiently.
- Apply sound judgement around materials, fabrication methods and buildability across stainless and carbon steel applications.
- Contribute to design improvements and product development opportunities.
We’re looking for someone with
- Proven experience in mechanical draughting, modelling or 3D design within fabrication, structural steel, pipework, manufacturing or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacture, revision control, fabrication detailing, weld symbols and practical workshop requirements.
- Experience working with stainless steel and carbon steel, along with a solid understanding of buildability and installation considerations.
- Ability to support mechanical design work, including basic design calculations.
- Confidence using 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor. AutoCAD and Bluebeam experience would be an advantage.
